We loved everything about this beautiful hotel that is more like living in your own manor house. We arrived bedraggled hours earlier than expected and were welcomed immediately with a beautiful breakfast and a superb room... spotless, stylish and the most magnificent water views. The owners and locals were generous with their local knowledge and we enjoyed superb hikes on Bressay and Noss to encounter an abundance of Puffins, gannets, skuas, otters etc
Staying for several nights was the best! Will definitely be back. Thank you to all of the staff for your care.

The property was very convenient for the town centre and all amenities. The flat was compact, but ideally suited for a couple. The kitchen came complete with washer/dryer and dishwasher, together with the appropriate cleaning tablets, which could be "topped up" on demand. This was in addition to all, more commonly supplied kitchen appliances. The owners also supplied, on demand, clean towels, bedding, toilet rolls etc.
Boasting garden views, Carradale Guest House provides accommodation with patio, around 500 metres from Bain's Beach. The property features quiet street views. The guest house has family rooms.

I was in Lerwick during a stretch of unpleasant weather - cold and rainy with strong winds sometimes gusting at gale force. I would not recommend October or probably not winter. I will return, but next time in May or June! The city and surrounding towns are worth the visit. Next time I make the journey I will go to Kirkwall, too,

This is where you need to base if you want to explore the Shetland Islands. We found a great tour guide who took us all the way to the northern end of Unst and with his 40+ year history on the island was a wealth of information. Message me if you want his contact info.
We also did one of the wildlife boat tours which was great!

We very much enjoyed seabird watching tour departing from the small boat ferry port in Lerwick, which is really recommended! We brought a car rented at Aberdeen to Orkney/Shetland by ferries and it was nicely worked. Taking your own car is recommend as the great bird watching and archaeological sites are far away from Lerwick. Unfortunately the puffin season was over when we were in the Orkney/Shetland. I would like to visit again to see puffins!

Lerwick, well known to many people because of the TV series 'Shetland', is a charming town with many interesting features. Most importantly, the people are very friendly and welcoming to visitors, a good thing as during the summer months it is a regular stop off for cruise ships.
The town centre is tucked just behind the sea front and contains interesting local shops, cafes and restaurants. Our favourite was 'The Dowry', which has great food and excellent coffee. Visit Fort Charlotte, take a walk around the Nab for breathtaking views, catch a ferry across the sound to the island of Bressay, peruse the outstanding (and free) Shetland Museum or walk out of town to explore the ancient Broch of Clickimin. Of course, there is also a tour of the locations used to film 'Shetland'.

Lerwick is a great base for shorter excursions around the islands. We could have stayed longer for more hiking and half/full day visits. Shetland has a lot to offer. The nature is outstanding and people are very friendly.
We really enjoyed our tour with Lara Thomason who guided us around south Shetland and took us the the north west cliffs of Shetland. Very knowledgeable and pleasant to hang with. Next time it will be for hiking!

A lovely place with plenty to do.
A lovely place with plenty to do. Those of you who want to relax can enjoy the amazing scenery and wildlife from many locations around Lerwick and even when having a coffee or eating dinner at some of the locations.
nothing it’s a complete dump - arrived reception boarded up no staff - eventually another disgruntled guest gave me a mobile. number to get a member of staff over - eventually arrived - my room had been taken - showed me another and went to get towels and a room key and never returned - terrible and unbelievable price - this is not a hotel and should not be advertised as such it’s a rip off diss house for contract workers - who all hate the place - it’s a bad joke - shameful - I’m expecting a full refund but good luck with that
Nellie and James were superb hosts. An added bonus was that Nellie was an exceptional cook conjuring up an amazing seafood platter which my husband and friends devoured. Has to be ordered in advance but if you love seafood well worth the wait.
The only slightly disadvantage of this lovely hotel being on Bressay was that it has to be accessed via a rather expensive ferry from Lerwick. Ferry times vary, but average out to be every 45 mins but I have to say this really wasn’t a problem for us.
The rooms we booked were very clean and comfortable. There was an excellent choice for breakfast ranging from a continental to the full works. The staff were very helpful throughout our stay advising on things to see and how to get there. During our stay we had a couple of evening Thai meals, the food was delicious. The hotel is only about a 10-15 minute walk from the centre, however if you are coming by ferry, I'd suggest you organise a taxi from the terminal as its a good 40 minute walk.
The Grand is indeed grand, a wonderful building with an incredible interior. Very nice to be there. The hotel has a ‘grand’ location, being in the centre of Lerwick, convenient for the bus station and nearby restaurants. The hotel owner was incredibly helpful with questions I had. Very pleasant room. I have never been to the Shetland Islands but I felt the Grand Hotel was an excellent way to be introduced.
This hostel was excellent, great value for money, very clean, all required facilities. Above all the manager was so friendly and helpful - what a difference that makes to a stay. Would highly recommend to families looking for reasonably priced, spacious and clean accomodation in Lerwick. We have a three year old and she loved it, excellent park and swimming pool nearby.
The location was great. Slightly out of Lerwick and convenient. The hosts were attentive and gracious. The place was clean. They had everything you could possibly need for a self catering cottage. The Wi-Fi was fast and easy. They had good blackout curtains. This matters in the summer! I would stay there again definitely!
Breakfast was exceptional. When they clean your room they give you it in an hamper so you have it for the next day. There was enough to snack on through the day too. Microwave, toaster, kettle and coffee machine all in room. Ideal location right in the heart of lerwick
The hotel proprietors were wonderful people, they made us feel welcome and were very accommodating. We would go back there again and were actually sorry we didn't stay there longer. The food was great as well as the hospitality. It was a wonderful experience!
Wifi speed is excellent; upstairs heat works well; free nearby parking is convenient, right up the hill; great location in downtown Lerwick; refrigerator size is quite large; lighting in the apartment is very good; tv had many UK channels
The apartment was warm, clean and well equipped. It was also pretty central in Lerwick so we walked to most places we wanted to go to. There was supplies left in the kitchen which was nice too. We would rent again if available.
Great view from room over the harbour. New managers recently taken over and are renovating the hotel so lots of areas freshly painted etc. Still in need of a little TLC but a great place to stay in the heart of Lerwick.
location was marvelous view of loch and clickimin broch lovely cicular wak around loch about a mile long handy for shops and town center nice restaurant we discovered on fourth day Lerwick and Shetland lovely
WI FI worked ok , Kitchen was good, it's wasn't one of the dreadful hotels Lerwick has on offer. And If you walk down to the end of the street you are looking at the hoose where Jimmy Perez stays.
We had a lovely time on Shetland. The apartment was very comfortable, well decorated and clean. It was easy to find and close to Lerwick centre. The bed was large and comfortable.
