FAQs about hotels in Llandudno

Victorian Resort with a Welsh Twist

The most popular Wales seaside resort, Llandudno covers a peninsula with 2 sandy coastlines. The North Shore’s wide Victorian promenade is lined with period buildings which now house seafront hotels and guest houses. The beach itself stretches all the way between the Little Orme and Great Orme headlands, passing an outdoor swimming pool.

A historic tram climbs to the peak of Great Orme, where Bronze Age copper mines can be visited. The top is also reachable by cable car from Happy Valley, a recreation area with gardens and an artificial ski slope.

A road runs around the base of the headland passing the historic Grand Hotel, a property available on Booking.com and overlooking the Grade II-listed pier – the longest in Wales. The West Shore is much less developed and the Maesdu Golf Course forms most of its shoreline.

Of course, Llandudno has its fair share of traditional seaside pursuits such as donkey rides and fish and chip shops.

The town also has a modern retail park near the train station and Venue Cymru event centre, and wrought-iron canopies shade smaller shops along Mostyn Avenue, Broadway and Street. The latter - Mostyn Street - is effectively the high street and becomes brightly decorated during the Victorian carnival in May.

It is a small area, easy to get around on the whole, some steep roads. Lots around and easy transport links to visit other local areas. Trip on the tram should be a must, adult return was £10.50. At the top are spectacular views, a cafe, I had a hot soup and a roll for £3.95. There is also a visitor center, small wildflower garden, crazy golf, children's play area up there too. You can also walk down To The mine or around the orme area The little church and Graveyard are very interesting too. As it was a very cold and windy day when I went I did do any walking. There are plenty of pubs/bars to suit any and all tastes and lots of different restaurants /takeaway, during the day there are a lot of cafes to choice from. There is also a Alice in wonderland trail, you can get maps from the tourist info center located in the shopping g centre, I will definitely be returning on a warmer day.

Llandudno is a lovely place to visit/stay, always clean and people very pleasant, there's a good choice of pubs, restaurants to cater for different cuisines, cafes and plenty of shops, also a large retail park. The great orme has a tram to get you to the top if needed and a road up if driving, there's a copper mine to visit half way which is very interesting and the views if clear are great and a visitor centre with all local information. There's a ski slope and toboggan type ride around the slope, there's a bus ride around the orme with commentary which is really good, a walk along the pier leads to a bar and cafe, a lovely stroll! The promenade is wide and a walk or cycle takes from great orme to little orme, watch out for seagulls if eating ice cream or chips etc whilst walking. Llandudno has two beaches, north shore and west shore, the west has the larger sand area and is a short walk or quick drive or just hop on a bus, everywhere in Llandudno is within easy walking distance for most people or a mobility scooter can be hired, there are a few amusement arcades so all ages are catered for. My wife and I have been visiting Llandudno for 56 years and we have relations living here or near to who moved to this area of Wales some years ago.

Lots to do in Llandudno and good for shopping and reastaurants, plenty of variety and choice. Watkins restaurant in the Empire hotel is top notch if you enjoy a more formal service and priced very fairly. Some things in town not yet open but expect that mid March. North shore is perfect for walking on the promenade with pleasant views of the bay and Victorian pier. A trip up the great orme on the Victorian tramway is a must. Super fit visitors might walk up. Good choice of cafes and restaurants in town. We ate in a pub called The Albert in Madoc street. The food was excellent.

When Brian the night porter kindly helped me to assess the parking meter in the Council car park next to the hotel at 2.am.It was dark and impossible to do without Brian's help Yes, perhaps it was a " Grand Hotel " in Victorian times but not anymore. It needs total refurbishment. Perhaps because Llandudno, is so popular it can be difficult to get a room there at short notice, the owners see no need to spend money on updating

Location excellent, had a sea view room with our own pet seagull on the window ledge, expecting to be fed, however he was disappointed this time. Room good, comfortable & clean, comfortable bed, breakfast room was a bit cafeteria style not hotel style, but the breakfast was good. Staff very friendly and helpful, they said a large updating & refurbishment due this winter, should make it very good for a stay in Llandudno.

The breakfast was very good, and the owners and their one member of staff were very helpful and accomodating. This was only their second week as owners but they were very friendly, and made us feel at home throughout our stay. The hotel is on the seafront, at the quieter end of Llandudno, perfect if you don't mind a walk to the more commercial part of town. Parking is also free on the streets here.
