The beds were comfy, and it seemed like the hosts, Chris and Heidi, had thought of almost everything!
They were really friendly and chatty, they were always available without being imposing and seemed liked they genuinely love hosting.
Lovely place!

We could not find the old Ferry. The reason being it was not only totally covered in scaffolding on the two sides visible from the road but it was also covered in workman. The car park was a building site which we could not enter as it had the builders vehicle in it. It is impossible to park within half a mile of the property unless you cross the Stuart by ferry and leave your car there. It was impossible to park to unload the car plus our two dogs. The builders told us the owner or anyone else was not there.
It turns out the Inn doesn’t open until 3pm. We were never told of the scaffolding or works which included stripping part of the roof to one side of the room we should have been staying in which also had scaffolding right up to it. We did the only thing we could do and crossed the estuary and looked for another hotel. It was almost 3 pm and by a miracle saw the sign for The Fowey Hall Hotel. They’re dog friendly and had availability. This is one of the most beautiful hotels I have ever stayed in. It is immaculate inside and out with the most charming staff

Lots of shops and restaurant very quiet over Christmas and facilities shut. However, before and after Christmas hols very interesting with lots of restaurants and little shops. Church offered Midnight Mass. We booked for Duchy of Cornwall restaurant for all our lunches, which was fabulous as well as shop full of Bungalow items and garden plants and pots etc Christmas gifts galore! . Booked for Christmas Lunch at Michell's in Polperro, lovely Pate and Christmas pudding was light and lovely, this restaurant was only 20 mins away by car with car parking. Lostwithiel has lots of lovely country side with many places to walk and explore. We intend to revisit.

Pictuesque old town once you turn off the main road.
Pictuesque old town once you turn off the main road. However, be aware many of the roads are very narrow and some are very steep. Some junctions are impossible to drive around, so dont trust your satnav!

Attractive little town ... very walkable.
Attractive little town ... very walkable. We had two memorable meals at The Globe Inn ... including a Ginger & Black Treacle Sponge that was to die for. Stayed at the Penrose Bed & Breakfast ... wonderful place, great atmosphere, fantastic views.
It was clean and functional, nice shower, fridge and freezer. The garden area is also lovely and the water feature could be meditated on for hours. The owner popped in to find out how we were fixed for leaving, rather than scowling and muttering darkly about timings. Very friendly, and the arrangements for gaining entry were similarly relaxed. Solid WiFi is great given the reception issues in that area. Great value if you just need a base rather than a more hotel-like experience for which you would pay a lot more.
The location was the perfect stopping point en route to Cornwall on our family trip (two adults and three young children). After a long day in the car, we greatly appreciated the warm welcome from the owners, who made a great effort to settle us in. The hotel is a nurtured and impressive family business. The room was lovely, and we were impressed by the attention to detail. We had a delicious breakfast in the morning, setting us up well for the next section of our journey. Thoroughly recommended.
Room was small but comfortable. Fan was already in the room - it was very warm weather. Breakfast menu was good. We ate in the hotel restaurant on the first night, intending to eat elsewhere on our second night. However, the good was so good, we decided to eat there on our second night too. Service on the second night wasn't the best, but the food more than made up for it. Overall a good three star hotel, reasonably priced.
The property is a self contained little flat in the garden of the main property which has its own entrance and is very quiet. Annalie was really helpful and flexible, even proactively offering a later checkout. The place is small but has everything you need. While there isn't a dedicated parking space, there was plenty of on road parking nearby so isn't an issue. Would definitely recommend a stay.
Chris and Hydie were extremely accommodating and polite. We wished we could have stayed longer. Breakfast was great, the room was extremely comfortable and the views were spectacular. Lostwithiel itself is so calm and peaceful, we went to the Globe for dinner and wow!
I had wonderful week in this lovely well equipped cottage in the centre of Lostwithiel. It was perfect and nice to have a sunny patio, flowers and some lovely extra provisions. It was a great base for walking. I'd love to come back and stay here again one day.
All the staff were friendly and helpful. The Hotel was clean and comfortable. We were given the option of an upgraded room, but our room was big enough and comfortable. The restaurant did lovely meals with very good portion sizes, and breakfast was very good.
The cottage was lovely, well-equipped and reasonably priced for the area. We enjoyed the friendly pub next door and the village environment. It was a great base to explore Cornwall. The manager responded quickly to any questions we had.
Lovely hotel in a beautiful village with amazing atmosphere. The best food we had during our trip around Cornwall. The nicest people too. Absolutely recommended.
Thank you Jack, thank you Chef, it’s been a pleasure.
Breakfast was excellent and set us up well for the day. Loved our room on the top floor with a nice view of Lostwithiel. The bathroom was spacious and highly functional, and everything was very clean.
Friendly proprietor, but not overly intrusive. Lovely setting and a great location from which to explore Cornwall. Clean, tidy, spacious and lots of character to this property. Thank You Pia.
A lovely little cottage with all facilities. Close to the small but beautiful town of Lostwithiel, with lots of independent shops, restaurants and cafes. I felt very much at home here
Lovely, well equipped apartment in a great location to explore Cornwall. The apartment was perfect for a break over the holidays - would definitely recommend staying here.
Great little place.ideal for exploring this part of Cornwall. Lostwithiel is charming. Description of property is accurate and you know what to expect.
