The Bell Inn is several miles from Lyndhurst in the beautiful New Forest; lovely walks over heath and woodland and, if you're lucky, you'll encounter ponies, donkeys and pigs roaming free locally; drive carefully!

Lyndhurst is a great place to stay for exploring the New Forest. It has a good mix of interesting shops and restaurants and a good sized car-park in the centre.
That said, it can get very busy and there can be traffic queues in high-season since it is a bit of a bottleneck. So I'd recommend visiting slightly off-season.

What let it down for us was the lack of options for gluten free breakfast no cereals no fruit no yogurts then when we did get breakfast it was cold toast rock hard it wasn’t even busy only us two for breakfast
We wanted to order gluten free fish and chips but fryer broken so was limited on evening options but what we did order was tasty I must say I was impressed by the staff knowledge on g/f intolerance and allergies.

Lyndhurst has some interesting shops particularly the antiques emporium and some nice pubs and restaurants and the Anglican church of St Michael's where the original Alice who was the model for ''Alice in Wonderland''was buried.
I went to the Passage to India Indian restaurant which is quite near to the Penny Farthing hotel.
There is a Ferrari showroom if you want to check them out but the cars are very expensive.

It is a lovely village, full of character.
It is a lovely village, full of character. It was the fourth, or fifth, time we have stayed in, or around, Lyndhurst. There are great shops, cafe's, restaurants and pubs. It is small enough to comfortably walk around. We ate in "The Forage, which is a modern Italian style restaurant with a very good menu selection. The only issue is that Lyndhurst is a focal point for all the roads into and out of the NewForest, which often leads to long traffic queues into and out of the village. However, the main road through is one way, which makes it easier for pedestrians to cross.
Everything about our stay at Ormonde House Hotel was perfect. The staff were great, very friendly and helpful (always with a smile). The room (Superior Double) was large with a fantastic shower and view over to New Forest. It was very clean and if necessary could be cleaned during stay. The restaurant downstairs was great with superb breakfast always served with a smile. Short walk into Lyndhurst and New Forest just across road. All in all a great trip to New Forest. Highly recommended, We would definitely stay again.
Location was fabulous, close to lovely forest walks. New forest ponies visited the hotel frontage twice while we were there, which was brilliant. Staff friendly, lounge and bar area nice. Great to have EV charger on site. Close to station so visit by rail would be possible, close to Lyndhurst by car which has plenty of places to eat/coffee shops etc
The apartment was fantastic with superb attention to detail. Parking was next to entrance, and the adjacent car park had 22v electric car charging ports - another bonus.
Seb and Kate, the hosts, went above and beyond to make sure that every detail of our break to Lyndhurst, New Forest, was absolutely spot on. Cannot recommend highly enough.
Food was excellent and value for money ( Hotel prices ) one point service was good and prompt - but certain staff they were to eager to clear the table whilst you were still eating so the experience felt a little rushed . A good car park ( free ) and a good position in the high street . Room was clean - Good bathroom and shower .
The hotel was in a great location, only a couple of minutes walk from the centre of Lyndhurst and had free parking. The staff were very friendly, helpful and made a fuss of our dog. The rooms were comfortable and had all we needed for our stay. A full English breakfast was included, which was very good.
Centrally located in Lyndhurst. Hotel, bedroom & bathroom were very clean. Service was good & staff were friendly. Hairdryer, iron & ironing board provided in room. Good quality breakfast. Pretty garden at back of property with ample seating. Lots of parking.
The location of the hotel is excellent, a 5 minute walk into the centre of Lyndhurst in the New Forest with shops and restaurants. Hotel is peaceful and parking is easy on the street outside. Room was immaculate. Would certainly stay again.
The property being close to Lyndhurst High street was excellent. The friendly welcome and service from this family owned business was lovely , especially the daughter who booked us in, served at the bar and waitress service for our meal.
The room was clean and comfortable.
The staff were really helpful.
The hotel is right in the middle of Lyndhurst and perfectly placed to explore the local area.
The hotel has its own car park which is a real bonus in Lyndhurst.
The location was fabulous, within easy walking distance from Lyndhurst and The New Forest. There were paths from the property directly into the forest and horses and deer were often seen on those walks. The breakfast was lovely.
As a single traveler this hotel was welcoming and safe. I stayed in a single room which was beautifully decorated and immaculately clean. Staff were lovely. Breakfast was really good. Would recommend a stay.
Great room, great staff, great food. We will definitely return and are planning a group visit with some friends for some golf and Spa. The hotel is exactly what we wanted and matched the descripton.
