Besides the above ratings, I'd like to single out Becky for a special mention during both dinner and breakfast. Her friendliness, kindness and professionalism were a credit to the hotel. But we were delighted by all contact with its staff.

The location is in the High St and just a few minutes away from the river, church and other High St shops/pubs/restaurants.
It looks very ‘oldy worldy’ from the outside and the same inside. Like stepping back in time a couple of centuries. The interior decor has been preserved or sympathetically reproduced and the main staircase is original as are the sloping floor in our superior double bedroom on 2nd floor. There was a few creaks from an adjacent room, but only to be expected as such an old hotel.
The staff we engaged with were exceptionally friendly and helpful. And we could choose where we wanted to eat our meals (had breakfast and a Sunday roast)
The car park spaces are limited due to location of the hotel, but we found a space and left it there for the 3 nights we stayed. There is a pay & display carpark directly behind the hotel where the charges were £6 for 24hrs.
I would recommend for a short stay.
This charming traditional coaching inn is a Grade II listed building and still retains many of its beautiful original features, such as exposed wooden beams.
