Overlooking the Market Square in the small town of Masham, this charming inn is set within a fine Georgian building of tremendous character, built in the second half of the 18th century.

We loved walking the extensive grounds and appreciated the size of our room. Our bathroom alone was the size of some hotel rooms. The port tasting was fun. The highlight was the owl and hawk experience, which was beyond fabulous. The place has a great and very accommodating staff.
With fresh and elegant interiors, this 17th-century Grade II listed farmhouse and stable block is just off the market square of sleepy Masham.

The location of the property was absolutely perfect for the quiet, remote getaway we wanted.

We loved the communication and easy access to the property. Cottage and furnishings were cute and cosy. Bottle of wine on arrival was a nice touch. Kitchen well equipped, toiletries and towels were provided. Bedding and bathroom very clean. It got quite chilly in the evening, but heating was available and easy to operate. Masham is a lovely little town with gorgeous surrounding countryside. It offers easy access to Ripon, Harrogate, N Yorks etc.

It's a quiet, pretty, historic little market town which has a small market twice per week on the big central market place. It has two famous breweries so the local ales are first class however, rather paradoxically, places to eat in the evening, especially on Mondays, are very limited, which is a shame.
There is an artisan glass works and oddly a fossil shop.
It is very near (walkable) the the luxurious and curious Swinton Estate which has hotel, spar, famous shooting school, fly fishing school, golf and more.

Stayed here while I attended an art workshop nearby. Husband came too and we arranged to stay in a dog friendly hotel,of which there are several. He went walking with the dogs while I was at said workshop.
Large central market place with plenty of parking, honesty box system. The buildings all around the town are attractive, with some age and sporting climbing roses and other herbage. A lovely feel pervades. Clearly popular with local drinkers and diners at w/e’s. Not noisy though. People very friendly.

Masham is a lovely small town/large village.
Masham is a lovely small town/large village. Great pubs with good food, a brilliant fish and chip shop. A large square in the centre with a market on Saturday. Lots of walking routes nearby. Two breweries, both with pub/eateries nearby. Although the week after our visit the Black Sheep brewery announced it was going into administration. I hope that gets sorted out and it continues to trade. Masham has the typical feel of a foot of the dales town. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a quintessentially English break.

Not a large place..more a typical village with shops and pubs surrounding the cobbled square......a well attended market held on the square 2 or 3 times a week.......take away the cars and you could be back in the 18/19th century..............Don't take my word for it.......go and see it for yourself. Also not to be forgotten is Theakston Brewery open to visitors and of course available in all the pubs and most of the descerning pubs throughout the Kingdom !!
Lovely, tucked away, clean welcoming property, comfiest bed EVER! Lots of little extras left for guests, thank you! Very short stroll into town, easy to park up and leave the car for the weekend. Great comms with the hosts. Tip to next guests, if eating Sunday lunch, The Bruce Arms Yorkshire pudds are to die for, Kings Head's are sad soft frozen Aunt Bessie's type. Recommend the 2 brewery trips, walking along the river, and The Border House Cafe. Looking forward to staying again :)
Warm and very clean on arrival.
Complimentary tea, coffee & milk in the fridge (and a Black Sheep beer which was a lovely touch).
Plenty of lovely local walks on the doorstep and near to a Co-op for essentials.
Enjoyed an evening meal at The Bay Horse-great food & service.
Very helpful host with good communication. We left something behind which Andrew very kindly posted onto us.
Look forward to returning & would definitely recommend!
Perfect accommodation for our family ! Appreciated the welcome touches on arrival ! Stunning views in peaceful location enhanced by beautiful weather . Our Grandchildren age 5 and 19 months loved the space to play safely ! Enjoyed local walks and a booking at Studfold adventure trail in nearby Lofthouse but didn’t really need to seek entertainment ! The hens and animals provided just that ! Thankyou Helen and Andrew
Breakfast was fantastic, room was spacious and very clean, ate in the bar on two nights and the food was delicious. The staff throughout the hotel were all welcoming and very attentive. Gay & Chris were on breakfast duty during our stay and they were amazing! They are definitely a great asset to the business.
Lastly, they are so dog friendly, our dog was thoroughly spoiled during our visit.
The host provided plenty of information and access to the key was nice and simple. It was a convenient location and had we planned ahead we would have enjoyed the nearby hotel for a meal. Internet connectivity was surprisingly good and BT TV gave us enough entertainment. The apartment was comfortable and the kitchen well provided for.
My wife and I stayed at The Bay Horse for one night, having enjoyed a previous visit in 2022. Checking in was easy. The room was spacious, clean and great value for money. The Bay Horse overlooks Masham Square so there is excellent access to the surrounding village. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely book again.
Cottage was beautiful and spacious. This cottage had everything you could ever need and more. Very nicely decorated and very clean Great location for Masham town centre and walking to pubs and brewery. Theaksons just thru the alley and a coop just to the side which was very convenient. We will definitely be back!!
We were there for 4 days. Great location in Masham, especially if you are a Black Sheep fan or want to enjoy the great food at the White Bear. Everything in the village within easy walking distance. Would definitely return. Parking right at the front door.
The hotel and location are fantastic, plenty to see and activities to do in the area or at the hotel itself. Breakfast’s were the best we have ever had and we have been travelling internationally for 4 years in is our fourth trip to England.
The nearest town, Masham, was very nice for places to eat and drink and had some interesting shops, pubs and cafes.
There was also some stunning countryside, places of interest and historical sites within a short drive/long walk/cycle.
Beautiful Hotel, incredible rooms, warm and cosy. Stunning grounds. the breakfast was lovely but a little pricey... the spa was excellent but not nearly enough loungers and not tidied often enough after people had vacated.
Very close to Masham Town Hall where we attended the Radio 4 recording of The Kitchen Cabinet. Parking was free and easy . Our room was spacious, lovely feel to the place. We will definitely recommend the Kings Head
Hotel is in a pub just off the main square in Masham, which has free parking, so a great location. Room was spacious with a big bed, and the wi-fi was fast throughout our stay.
Beautiful area surrounding and within the property. Nearby 9 hole golf course is equally beautiful. Rooms are spacious. Staff is friendly. Cool snooker table room.
Masham is a lovely village with good history and good pubs etc.
Where the lodge is located, whilst being very close to the brewery it was lovely and quiet.
