The first day the lady had an issue with a power cut, the breakfast looked beautiful but it was cold. I struggled to eat it. Day 2 it was perfect. We had a fruit bowl & it was absolutely gorgeous. It may be a good idea if along with the breakfast selection sheet a book of pictures of the food. It was beautifully presented. My sister had an omelette and said it was the best omelette she had ever eaten.
The Beach was lovely, better than expected.
People are also very friendly.
EatING out was good at Roos Leap (dog-friendly at lunchtime). We also had good takeaways from Yum Yum and Chips N Things.

We stayed there as our son and partner where attending a wedding in Montrose we used it as a base , 20 mins from Arbroath lovely Cushing town selling the famous smokie everywhere, history in the lighthouse signal museum was good. We then travelled to Broughty Ferry, lovely promenade to walk all along, little boutique shops, castle, plenty restaurants and fish and chip shop
The Limes Guest house was in a convenient location - under 10 mins walking from Montrose train station. I was greeted by a lovely owner, Jen who was very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly and helped to ensure I had an enjoyable stay throughout my time in town. Having stayed at the chain hotel a few nights before and breakfast being pretty average - I was genuinely surprised with the amazing breakfast standard Jen has offered - make sure you'll order yours, will not regret it!
Not our first visit so we knew what we were going to find on the whole. Limes is a wonderfully friendly place to stay and use as a base to explore Montrose and surrounding areas. Rooms are clean, spacious and very comfortable with all the facilities you would expect. Jen is a super host who will go out of her way to make your visit special. Breakfast is superb. We love everything about the place and will be returning on our next trip to Montrose.
Kristy (I believe that was our hostess’s name) was absolutely lovely and so gracious. The room and bathroom were spotless and the bed so comfortable. breakfast was cooked to order and so reasonable. the property itself is so beautiful, and very homey — not like a museum. The gardens outside are so pretty and there’s a little reading/relaxing sunroom in it, for guests. Montrose is a “real” town, not a tourist town, but it is close to much to do!
We stayed for one night while visiting Angus for the Doors Open Weekend. The hotel is in a great location for exploring Montrose and the surrounding area. It is central, but also quiet. The hotel has a carpark with plenty of space. The staff were all lovely and very friendly. There was a good selection of food at breakfast.
The hotel staff were extremely helpful and always available. The breakfast was very good, and the rooms were very modern and attractive, whilst the public areas of the hotel were charmingly traditional. The beach was just across a short area of the golf links. We will definitely stay here again when we are in the area.
The breakfast was excellent. If you stay at the hotel then you get a discount off the green fees at Montrose Links course. The hotel owner made us aware of this during our stay. Our room was nice, but there are rooms that overlook the golf course too.
Absolutely tremendous. Immaculate property, the photos online don't do it justice. Would definitely return
We visited upper dystart larder, brechin Castle, domatter Castle, Montrose, Charleton farm, air museum and pleasure land
This property is a little gem in the centre of Montrose. It was spacious and comfortable and had all the amenities for a self-catering cottage. Would definitely consider a return visit.
Fabulous hotel, lovely to have a bed and bowls for my four-legged companion.
The restaurant was excellent and the portion sizes were amazing.
Would thoroughly recommend staying here.
Liked the hotel was close to center of town. Breakfast not up to our expectations. However, dinner was excellent. Our waitress was amazing. She was very friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was amazing we had to ask for smaller portions on the second morning as there was so much of it and all delicious . We loved Montrose town and people very friendly
Welcoming, friendly, accommodating and generous. Very comfortable room, and excellent breakfast. Would go to montrose just for a stay at the hermitage.
