Royal Hotel, hotel in Mungrisdale

Nestled peacefully amongst the Eastern Lakeland Fells and located on many of the best-loved Lakeland walks, this charming country retreat is ideal for a peaceful break in Dockray.

Wonderful location, so close to the lakes and to town but located down less than ten minutes of picturesque country lanes (with plenty of passing points). The bedroom was spacious and the bed was ginormous! Shower had plenty of room, and the huge mirror in the bathroom was fitted with large lights like a glamorous mirror in a movie. Breakfast was gorgeous and plentiful, good portion sizes. Breakfast is included in price! Don't be like me and only come down for brekky on the final day, not realising I didn't have to pay extra for it! The Stairs and hallways are super wide so no trouble carrying wide/heavy luggage up and down them.

Lane Head Farm Country Guest House, hotel in Mungrisdale

Located in Troutbeck and only 16 km from Derwentwater, Lane Head Farm Country Guest House provides accommodation with mountain views, free WiFi and free private parking.

Suruchi is a fantastic host. She was warm and welcoming and made sure she was able to cater to our needs (I drink decaf). The facilities were lovely, we did have the run of the place and enjoyed lovely conversatoins in the morning. The breakfast (Masala Omelette) was he perfect set up to each of our 3 days we were there. The lounge is a little small, so although it was fantastic when we were there as we were the only guests for 2 of the 3 nights, it could get a little crowded if there were more people.

We chose not to have breakfast which was available on request. However the property is beautifully done out and in a lively location. It is close to the lakes (30 min drive to Keswick) and plenty of nice walks locally. There are nice pubs close by with good food

Quiet rural area with plenty of walks around. Buy jam, marmalade & plant from Lorraine's Tea Garden next to the Mill Inn. You will need a car to get around. Have a drink at the pub in Hesket Newmarket. Go for a delicious vegetarian meal at Upfront & visit Hutton in the Forest.

The Mill Inn is set in a beautiful remote location with great walks from the pub. The staff are super friendly and the choice and value of food is first class. It has to be one of if not the best value pub in the lake district for the quality of accommodation.

If you want to experience the Lakes without staying in the tourist areas, this is the place for you. Quiet, peaceful, but only a short drive to anywhere on the Lakes. Breakfast really set you up for the day, (the bacon was real quality) and in the evening when you've had a long day, the pub serves an excellent variety of meals with a good range of ales at the bar.

We arrived to a lovely welcome basket a nice touch thank you. The double bed is very comfortable, the pull out bed is not fit for 2 people and is very uncomfortable also no mattresses protectors for it just a king cotton sheet to sleep on, I would avoid booking for 4 people to sleep in a pod. The toilet has no light switch and the light is activated by a sensor which stays on for 20mins if you go to the toilet at night very annoying also keep the toilet door closed at night because you will just keep setting the light off if you move an inch. It is near the busy A66 and you hear the traffic at night so take ear plugs if you’re a light sleeper. Everything else just fine no problems the appliances are all new and work great.

Mungrisdale is located a few miles off the A66 between Penrith and Keswick, and gives easy access to the Northern Lakes. We wanted an overnight stay to break the journey from Birmingham to catch the ferry at Ardrossan, and give us an easy final journey, with the possibility of a little sightseeing.

Beautiful location, very peaceful and nice to get away from the stresses of everyday life. Stayed at the Mill Inn, was a lovely place to stay and they were so welcoming and accommodating, we ate at the Mill Inn too and the food was really nice. Mungrisdale is a wonderful place for walking and climbing or even just strolling around the pretty little village and then having a drink and meal at the pub. We visited Aira Force and also Hutton in the Forest, which are lovely places.
