Waterton Park Hotel, hotel in Normanton

In a beautiful estate just outside Wakefield, Waterton Park Hotel features a golf course, spa and a leisure centre . Just 10 minutes from the M1, the hotel has free Wi-Fi.

Very friendly staff - always willing to help The location was superb - the hotel is on an island in a lake surrounded by beautiful gardens. It was quiet and relaxing. For a Georgian hotel the plumbing was good and the shower reliable!! Excellent fish and chips in the cafe. The hotel's history is interesting: first known nature reserve (albeit created from sugar plantation wealth) owned by the inventor of the bird box of with potential for further recognition as a heritage green space. Make more of the history as a selling point.

Location was great for what we needed, we left the car at the hotel and got an Uber for less than £10 to the first direct arena. Having the services on the doorstep was really convenient too

Our friends live in Normanton so we know the area well. We would normally stay with them but due to family coming across from America we stayed at the Grange. It has a nice little shopping area in the centre and various cafes. It is not far to travel to Wakefield or Leeds and other surrounding areas. There is a local train station and frequent bus service.

the area is beautiful, such incredible history, and the pubs do the most amazing food, we went to the crooked billet at Towton for a Sunday roast, it was incredible, Mama Mias in Pontefract was also very good, and Thaal, the Indian restaurant near ferrybridge was the best i have ever had, wonderful stay and Normanton is very central to where we wanted to be.

Normanton is a small town on the outskirts of Wakefield...The town center is made up of mainly small local businesses, Banks & supermarkets. There is also a regular market. .. Although Normanton itself doesn't have many activities, it is close to the the M62 J31 so there is easy access to Leeds. Bradford, Wakefield & many other smaller towns, cities & retail parks.. I stay there because I have family living there, & find the residents are very welcoming & friendly.
