The accommodation was delightful; superbly dressed, with minute attention to detail in a self-contained annexe with plenty of parking and a decent local pub. The room has been very highly finished and incorporates the original beams and alcoves to form something quite special and unique. Complementary White Company toiletries added to the sense of luxury. A generous, light breakfast was left for us in the room and set us up perfectly for our onward journey.

I was born in Oundle over sixty years ago and it has not changed too much in that time only the shops have improved and changed hands. However the last bank closed recently and we couldn’t find a link machine but there might have been one in Waitrose. The architecture is lovely and has a long history as the home of a Public school which encompasses the entire town. It is surrounded by the river Nene great for fishing and has a marina and a renowned boat building company Fairline boats. A lovely country park with old gravel pits now filled with water which attracts plenty of wild life. Plenty of places to have coffee and snacks plus a couple of pubs and two hotels/ Inn. Plus farmers markets are held on certain dates in the market square. There is also a wonderful artist and his shop on West Street who paints fantastic paintings of Oundle etc. It has a couple of supermarkets a comprehensive school, a Grammer school and a Public school which encompasses a lot of the town which is now co- educational and was originally founded by the Grocers of London, a very elite school. Overall a nice place to visit.

Oundle is only a small town but there are some useful and very good shops eg. independent bookshop, shoe shop, cookware shop.
It is easily accessible for some lovely walks and cycle rides. In the evening it is fairly quiet and it is compact enough to wander around.

Historical market down. There is a map and trail that you can follow giving you info on the buildings. We had lunch in the garden of Dexters Bar & Kitchen which was very good. We had an evening meal in the Talbot Hotel which was lovely. The Barnwell country park is nearby amd is lovely for a stroll around

A picturesque and pleasant small market town, with some good quality independent shops. Not a huge range of dining options, but some atmospheric pubs and good coffee shops. Worth spending a couple of days to explore the town and the surrounding area which has some very picturesque villages.

Oundle is a rather strange but picturesque place dominated by a public school and its buildings.
the hotel exceeded our expectations and was very good value for money though the food needs some attention.
The dinner was superb. The desserts were a work of art. Great wine too. There was plenty to choose from at breakfast and all good and fresh. Staff were all so friendly and helpful. A very relaxing place to explore Oundle. They had thought of everything in the room, not just the beautiful décor but all the teas, Nespressos, robe, slippers, iron, good hair dryer etc etc.. Loved all the history and pictures around the building.
We stayed in the Talbot Suite. It was nice enough - it had an amazing bathroom. The toiletries were quite nice, as well. The shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion were all top quality. We ate dinner at the hotel, focusing mainly on desserts, and all of them were good. Breakfast was cooked to order and was very lovely.
Absolutely loved our stay at Chapel Cottage, it was one of the nicest holiday cottages we have ever stayed in. It really felt like a home from home which is often not the case. Spotlessly clean and evert detail thought of by Helen. Oundle itself is a lovely place to visit. Highly, highly, recommended.
I love everything about the Talbot,it never fails to please
Our Daughter lives in Oundle. but we always choose to stay at the Talbot, wouldn't stay anywhere else.. Cleanliness is first class and the staff are all wonderful, thank you to everyone, already looking for to our next visit.
The hotel is a lovely old building with lots of historical character. Our standard room although not massive was well appointed and had a comfortable king sized bed. The cooked breakfast options were varied and my Eggs Benedict were cooked to perfection, always a sign of care.
The Hotel was amazing the bedrooms were beautiful and really clean the food was delicious and the service was very good and professional cannot wait to visit again Oundle is a really great place to visit lots of History and lovely places to eat and drink
Great historic hotel in beautiful town. Breakfast and dinner were both delicious. Parking lot was easily accessible to rooms and cleaning staff went above and beyond. No mini fridge in room but plenty of coffee and tea facilities and fans available.
Hotel has a nice ambiance that you would expect from an old coaching Inn and an excellent position in the centre of the town. The rooms are comfortably furnished with nice touches such as complementary bars of chocolate and bottled water.
i stay in many hotels and the Talbot stands out. They got everything right that I pay attention too - comfortable bed, hot powerful shower, cleanliness and friendly staff. On top of the the evening meal and breakfast were superb.
Historic, sprawling hotel. Lovely coffee shop/bar area. Great room (Classic Double), which was very spacious and comfortable. Oundle is a quiet, small country town. Nice for a short relaxing break.
Really well appointed modern 3 bed house that’s in a good condition and has everything you need for a stay in the lovely town of Oundle. Super fast WiFi and Comms from the owner was also excellent.
Great location and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Historic hotels are always interesting and the Talbot should be on your list if you like places with character. Restaurant and breakfast excellent.
Great location for visiting family; very comfortable and well equipped cottage - very cosy! Garden ideal for our pup and we enjoyed lots of late night walks around Oundle..,
