Peaceful location with loads of historical interest. The room was so cosy and the bed was so so comfortable. We had breakfast in the great hall which was incredible - the food was also excellent and hosting was exceptional. .

Palnackie is a peaceful village with a small harbour set on the River Urr. It has a pub, village shop, post office and cafe (open Thurs-Sat at present). The village makes an ideal base for walking, hiking, mountain-biking, or simply relaxing. The towns of Dalbeattie and Castle Douglas are are short drive away for food shopping and the larger town of Dumfries has a multitude of shops to explore if that's your thing. The scenery around Palnackie is absolutely stunning, the air is clean and the locals are extremely friendly - what more can you ask for!
