Location was great and it was available at short notice on a bank holiday weekend. My room was clean and had a great view. The bed was very comfortable. The night was quiet and the morning birdsong was magic. Shower was a decent power shower - Excellent

Location is a 10/10. We loved having a beer on an evening, on the benches outside, looking down into the valley.
Myself and a friend stayed in the triple room, and we were very impressed. I would definitely rate it more than a 2* hotel. Bed was comfortable, and the room was clean. A bit of a weird compliment, but the water pressure in the shower was incredible!
We were also pleasantly surprised with the drinks prices at the bar. I can't remember a pint costing more than £5. The staff were very friendly, and the manager was brilliant.
I'd also recommend anyone visiting to have a walk to Lastingham, and eat at "The Blacksmiths Arms". The food is incredible, and fairly priced.

Lovely food. Two members of staff well worth a mention are Sally and her husband who both went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. Nothing was two much trouble for them

We stayed in Thornton Le Dale a couple of miles outside. This location is ideal in that it is within easy reach of most local attractions and also the coast. Plenty of pubs, cafes and independent shops.

Nice little market town with plenty of places to eat in the evenings, even in the winter. It is a good centre for visiting other places nearby and it has the main attraction of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.

Clean tidy and relaxing.
Clean tidy and relaxing. The birds at the pond were lovely to see. Even saw a kingfisher. Hot tub was very nice and they even turned up the temperature to meet our preference. The hot tub was checked and attended to promptly ever day of our stay. I know Pickering very well as my daughters lives there. We used the site as a place to relax and be with my family after loosing my brother few weeks before. My husband had also retired that weekend so we wanted to be close to our family. All our needs were met but could have done with few more cooking dishes and trays as we did not want to go out to eat. Would recommend the site to others.

Beautiful town. The NYR is a real tourist attraction.
Beautiful town. The NYR is a real tourist attraction. The stops are interesting and mostly independent! Parking is plentiful! Pickering is a fabulous base to explore the moors! Just 20 minutes to Whitby, 20 miles to York. Plenty of places to eat, lovely cafes and pubs! Don’t forget to visit the Castle. Scarborough is a 30 minute drive. People in the town are very friendly and the shops are very welcoming of dogs. Pickering is a real gem of a town! Flamingo Land theme park is about 10 mins from Pickering.

The purpose of our visit was to visit the Bangers and Cash Auction House, and to visit there memorable museum in Thornton le Dale. Pickering was a nice place. We went out of season so it was quiet and only went for two days. Ate at a Indian restaurant which was recommended to us.
i had breakfast . only scrambled egg and toast but very tasty very well presented and nice n hot . the room was very modern and clean with lots ofvroom and plenty places to store my clothes . the facilities in the room were top class . its the best place of its type i have ever stayed in , in this country. i was very pleasantly pleased on arrival and had a thoroughly relaxed and comfortable stay . i will be back to visit pickering again and will book my accomodation in the black swan .
By far and away, the staff were excellent, starting with the very hard working manager - Simon. He certainly knew how to look after his guests and his staff. If I had a hotel, I would employ Simon. The staff couldn’t do enough for us and the food was excellent from breakfast to dinner, very well prepared, presented and ultimately eaten. We would definitely use this hotel again and also, recommend to anyone wishing to visit Pickering that they must stay here for a few days.
The location and parking were excellent - the NYMR Pickering Station is just 5 minutes walk away. The breakfast was served in the conservatory and was virtuously faithful to the positive reviews (enormous tea pots a hit). The rooms were spacious and clean - they'd actually been redecorated just weeks before our stay. Staff all friendly and knowledgeable. An experience at a good price. It's just how a small hotel should be run.
Outstanding accommodation and perfect location. Sally was the perfect host, always helpful and served a delicious breakfast each morning with nothing too much trouble.
With the separate bedroom with en-suite, sitting room and dining room, all spotless clean and so tastefully decorated, it leaves hotel rooms for dead.
We could not recommend highly enough and would love to return ASAP.

Beautiful looking hotel, great location for access to Pickering & gateway to the North York Moors. Close to the North York Moors railway station. The staff were very friendly, there is a bar and eating facilities onsite and lovely walled garden at the rear to enjoy a drink. The room was clean and well equipped. Plenty of free parking onsite.
Gorgeous hotel wonderful setting. The garden is magnificent ( complete with wildlife. We were having a drink on the terrace and a hedgehog walked by).
The restaurant is really lovely as is the food.
The staff are the best you could possibly hope for, friendly, helpful and all smiling.
It's a lovely lovely hotel and I didn't want to leave!
the breakfast was ok although on one of them the sausage was on the turn, i was disappointed as i thought we were in walking distance to pickering, but it was 10 miles away and being that the kitchen was not open for evening meals, and the nearest restaurants were fully booked, it spoilt the break
We really enjoyed our short stay at the Bramwood Cottages. We stayed in the 1 bed Tack Room cottage. It was a very cosy (we loved the fireplace!) clean and comfy perfect size for 2 people and in a great location in Pickering as base for exploring the area.
Lovely quiet location yet only a thirty minute walk or five minute drive from Pickering. Secure parking right outside the property. The Stables was an ideal base for exploring the area. A light, airy and comfortable property and a very relaxing stay.
Telephoned owner a couple of days before stay. He was very helpful informing me bread, milk, biscuits would be provided for our arrival. Perfectly located in Pickering. Accommodation perfectly adequate for a two night stay by 3 motorcyclists.
Staff were exceedingly friendly and the hotel was stunning inside and out! We were greeted with the option of a tea or coffee (along with biscuits) and were made to feel very welcome! 10/10 would recommend to anyone visiting Pickering!
Very nice hotel in beautiful location
Lovely large garden next to a paddock - met Bert the friendly horse!
Room very good
Also has a nice little bar and we had an excellent dinner in the airy dining room
Everything about the hotel was excellent, beautiful room and fantastic food. You need a car as there is nothing in the village but it is very close to Pickering and other North Yorkshire attractions.
Breakfast was lovely..liked allocation of tables with room number on. Food fresh and of good quality. Hotel decorated with great artefacts, pictures etc. Liked where hotel was in Pickering
2 en suite bedrooms, well appointed kitchen. Off road parking behind property. Location, 2-3 mins from Pickering High St and 5 mins from the Ryedale Swimming pool.
