Pentre Cottage near Craig y Nos, hotel in Pont-Nedd-Fechan

Offering a garden and mountain view, Pentre Cottage near Craig y Nos is set in Pen-y-cae, 29 km from Brecon Cathedral and 32 km from Cathedral Church of St Joseph.

Great value in a beautiful location, fairly remote but accessible and very close (short walk) to the lovely country park of Craig y Nos. The owner was lovely and our room (3 in the cottage)was comfortable, clean and quiet with a large window looking at a mountain. The room contained a double bed and bunk beds with side tables and lamps. There was a dining table (folding) and 3 chairs. The kitchenette part of the room had a fridge, a sink (washing up liquid, sponge and tea towel), a kettle, toaster and small microwave. There were also knives, forks, spoons and teaspoons for 4, dinner and side plates, cereal bowls, 2 wine glasses and some tumblers together with a corkscrew bottle opener and a can opener. An emergency supply of coffee sachets, sugar and miniature milks was also provided. The en-suite bathroom had an electric shower, basin and loo plus shower gel, shampoo & conditioner, toilet paper, towels and a bath mat. Although the room was centrally heated there was also a fan and a small heater to cope with any weather. Outside there was a little garden with a table and chairs where we managed to enjoy a glass of wine on a sunny evening! Excellent value for money and we had a chocolate on our pillow and some biscuits to welcome us.😊

The waterfalls in the four falls walk were amazing and I am so glad we went would definitely recommend. Not sure about where we stayed. I would’ve like somewhere more picturesque but we were only a short drive away from the falls. The area itself just wasn’t the best. It did seem a bit run down. The view from the cottage wasn’t great as you can see in my pics

This is a beautiful place with amazing walks in every direction with gorges and woods and rivers . The whole valley needs to be explored and the Sgwyd is a fine place to stay .The room I booked, in my opinion , is too small for a double bed which was the only glitch to my stay - the other rooms were bigger and had windows. ( the one I had only had skylights) The area is fantastic - beautiful walks and woods and gorges to explore. The Sgwyd lodge is a fine place to stay with many really good features and qualities including good staff and delicious food. The bus service looks good -park and ride in summer which is good to see- saw accessible routes as well as other walks - range of takeaways places in nearby Glenn neadd as well as the Lodge itself and neighbouring hotels- a real gem of a place .

Loved our stay, we were the only ones in the premises .

Loved our stay, we were the only ones in the premises . Rooms are small and space has been brilliantly utilised . It wasn't a problem for us as we were just doing an overnight stay. Loads of great walks in and around the area. Countryside is fantastic. Local pubs do reasonable food .

Exceptional place to stay in a very scenic part of the country. Liked · The breakfast provision was excellent; I did not need to buy anything additional. The 'Den' is located ideally for exploring the Waterfalls and the Western side of the Brecon Beacons. The place is like a showhome from an expert builder, all facilities are modern and new (underfloor heating and lovely shower). Local pubs are a short walk downhill but it also an ideal place to stay if you want to keep your distance from everyone (in 2020!).

A lovely area for hikers who wish to be immersed in forests, waterfalls and wildlife. However, it's difficult to access via public transport (if without a car) and the eateries in the area leave a lot to be desired.
