The staff were brilliant and always willing to go that extra mile. We asked for an upgrade and it was sorted in minutes. Gavin at reception was exceptional. The breakfast was a choice of continental or full Scottish. We chose the full Scottish and everything was cooked to perfect. Coffee/tea, apple juice and orange juice were available too. Everything served with a chat and a smile.
Dinner can be purchased at £20 per person per day at time of writing.
Our room was a twin and very spacious looking over Port Patrick harbour. You will be blown away..!! The room was warm and clean with tea/coffee making facilities that included Scottish shortbread. It also boasted, iron board and iron, hair dryer, TV with a good mix of channels, suitcase rack and a very handy book on things to do and see in the local area.
The bathroom was also very clean with toiletries in abundance. The shower was strong and easy to use.
The hotel has well stocked bar, bottled and draught also local beer and spirits with reasonable prices, also a poolroom/TV room with games like chess, draughts etc.
Outside the hotel there’s lots of paths for walking with breathtaking views and if your really brave you can walk down the many steps to the harbour area where you will find tennis courts, bowling green, pitch and putt and many other facilities.
A great place to stay if you fancy some fishing either from the harbour or rocks, or there’s many local lochs for trout, pike, perch, etc.
The hotel even let us store our bait in a freezer.
All in all, a very welcoming hotel at very reasonable prices.
Try it, you won’t be disappointed..!!!

We arrived early evening and left about 9.30 the next morning so did not see anything of the place. It was cold, wet, windy and with waves crashing on the rocks and so was not conducive to exploring in what was left of the daylight. In any event, we were only there for one night before moving on.

Rosie on reception was brilliant and so polite.
Rosie on reception was brilliant and so polite. Gave us tips on where to go and what to do, nothing was too much trouble for her.
We will definitely be back. Location is perfect with fantastic sea views too .
Mount Stewart for food and ambience .
Dunskey Castle walk along the coast is lovely, or The Southern Uplands Way on the other stretch of coast .
Take a trip to The Mull of Galloway where you can walk around the lighthouse and go down to where the old foghorn is. Lovely cafe just a bit further down the hill too with amazing views.

Location of the hotel was fabulous.
Location of the hotel was fabulous. Overlooking the Irish sea. You could see Northern Ireland in the distant horizon. Great views from our window.
The hotel I fear has seen better days although the entrance and public areas were fine. The bedrooms are a bit small and well used. Bathrooms could do with a revamp.
I had a request before I arrived( A couple of weeks before). That on our arrival could we have a bottle of celebratory Prosecco or Champaign which I was willing to make payment for in advance. So as to celebrate my partner Karen's 60th birthday. However the message sent back is that they do not have any and it would not be possible. So I asked if they could supply me with some glasses in the room and I would bring the bottle. On arrival there was no glasses. So maybe Booking .com messaging did not work.
The evening meal was not to our taste and therefore we used the following two nights at different establishments in the town.
The Hotel was fantastic with our pet Collie dog and staff very nice. The whole of Port Patrick seems a very dog friendly place. Dog bowls at most lampposts. Great walks from the Hotel along the spectacular cliff tops to Dunskay castle and beyond. On the whole a satisfying and pleasant break.

The staff were absolutely brilliant at the hotel, very friendly and helpful from start to finish. We had our evening meal at the hotel and the food was top notch. If you intend to eat here I would book a table at the same time as you book your room or they might just now have a table for you, View from the Buchanan room is breathtaking. All the pictures attached were taken from the carpark with my drone.
The most uncomfortable beds I have ever come across, cold building, dirty walls in room , no water pressure on second floor, Luke warm water. Food was average at best. View from window was a skip of broken windows and old mattresses. Was so bad we only stayed one night instead of 2 , On departure receptionist was more concerned with the bill being paid than anything else. Not even an apology nor an attempt at making things right. Do not book this hotel ! Over priced, cold and uncomfortable. View was good but the rest was awful!
No 4 Portpatrick was a fantastic place to stay. The property is on a quiet street only a few seconds walk from the beach and local amenities.
The room we stayed in was great - well laid out and very comfortable.
The hosts were amazing and extremely helpful, answering all of our questions about the area and giving us some very helpful advice.
Breakfast was brilliant - we had a choice of cooked food, cereals and porridge (or all three!), as well as a range of hot drinks and juice.
This hotel is in a superb location, the room was very small but was very clean and had everything in it that I needed.
I had view of Portpatrick lighthouse out my window and could hear the waves crashing off the rocks. Dinner and breakfast were not the best that I had on my trip but for the room and location I would stay here again.
It was a room in a row of detached cottages next to the hotel which is located on the shorefront. Portpatrick is a beautiful place with lots of good hotels, pubs, and restaurants. Staff were friendly, the room was smallish but had all the features you might need. The breakfast was very good. Everything was clean.
Fantastic location overlooking beautiful Portpatrick, spacious clean room that looked to have been recently decorated.
Very nice period hotel with many original features and a lift to all floors.
Good disabled parking adjacent to the hotel entrance.
Excellent staff, very friendly and helpful.
Hotel is situated on the promenade at portpatrick. Fantastic location. The crown has a large dining area apart from the pub area and seating outside.
Room had everything we needed, and would stay again. If you've got mobility issues, make sure you have a ground floor room (stairs only).
This hotel has the most amazing vista to both the port and the sea. Just a short walk to the harbour. The restaurant is fantastic as are all the staff. I have been coming to this hotel for over 5 years and always live every minute of it. “come as a guest, leave as a friend”
Hotel was clean. Rooms were clean. Hot breakfast was good. Lovely walk along the coastal walk past the Eco House featured on Grand Designs, walking boots recommended for walk. Lovely pubs down in Portpatrick, The Crown in particular. Lovely views from hotel lobby balcony.
We were located on the seafront at the harbour, we were greeted by staff at bar on arrival, and shown to our room, breakfast was delicious, varied menu, service very good, we also had our evening meal here twice, good choice given, would recommend this hotel.
My room was more like a small apartment and much more than I expected.A restaurant serving delicious meals was directly next door and my accommodation was metres from the sea front.Parking was on the street but easy enough to get a spot close to the hotel.
Staff really good, could not do enough for you, very friendly. hotel in great location, right on the harbour & beach. Very dog friendly, dog with us at breakfast & dinner, she loved the sausage in the mornings. On suite well fitted out, great shower.

Spacious accommodation, ideal for larger groups. Peaceful location, close to Portpatrick. Lovely bedrooms, good space for sitting and dining. Loads of parking spaces. Really lovely house would happily recommend.
Lovely hotel have stayed there a few times. No problem with parking, only 30 minutes from ferry terminal. Dog friendly. The restaurant food is very good
for evening meal and breakfast.
