Beautifully situated on the cliff at Ravenscar overlooking Robin Hood's Bay, Raven Hall Hotel is set in the scenic North York Moors. Its 90 acres of grounds include a 9-hole, cliff-top golf course.

Having stayed before (2023) & had a lovely time we decided another visit for my son’s 50th would be in order. BUT.
Best.
Location & Views, Gardens, Free onsite parking.
Worst.
Restaurant no good for smaller appetites (smaller menu only available in a dark, dated lounge area). Meaning the excellent views were wasted.
Room was large but view was over rear buildings & kitchen. Kitchen fan stopped at 9-30pm but started around 6-7 am. Also room needed redecoration there was wallpaper tears, scuffs & a hole in bathroom floor along with stained floor. One radiator had a missing valve. The telephone socket was damaged. We had requested a rail to assist shower entry which they assured had been noted but was not delivered (another thing we did not persue).
As we were already in futile talks about the room price.
Room Price was beyond provision. For £148 I expect at least shower cap & sanitary bags in bathroom & slippers & robes. Along with more than 3 teabags. This room was advertised when we arrived for £72 which is more it’s worth, however, we were refused a reduction hence our concerns were not brought to managers attention as it may have been futile.
The hotel needs a huge refurb.

Ravenscar is a hidden jewel on the North Sea coast.
Ravenscar is a hidden jewel on the North Sea coast. It might be small a village but the views are utterly amazing and the opportunities to explore the area are endless.
The wildlife is out there too - colony of seals basking in the sun, birds singing and to be spotted, rabbits, squirrels, deers. The nature will embrace any visitor getting out of the car here. It is a perfect place for walking and relaxing.
The location is also perfect for experiencing the North Yorkshire moors, Scarborough and Whitby and the many villages and attractions nearby. The cultural offer is there to be found and to be enjoyed.

Pleasant hotel in an area of outstanding beauty.
Pleasant hotel in an area of outstanding beauty. Good for short walks and serious hiking. good facilities at hotel with friendly helpful staff. good choice of menu in the evening and good breakfasts.
Unfortunately, the area is subject to sea frets and at some times of the year warm clothing is a necessity!
The resort does have a bus service to Scarborough - Twice a day!
There are two cafes close to the hotel. There is a post office on Thursdays at the church.
There is no sandy beach close by. It is a rocky shore down a steep and at times slippery slope.

We chose Ravenscar as a birthday treat for three reasons.
We chose Ravenscar as a birthday treat for three reasons. It had good amenities; it has an excellent reputation in Yorkshire; it provides an exceptional centre for walking from. The views from the Raven Hall Hotel on good days are as good as any we have seen around the world. The food excellent. The hospitality is of course "proper Yorkshire!"

A long awaited holiday but disappointed by many poor quality aspects around the food and wine offerings, only saved by the excellent attentive and friendly staff.
Path to the disabled car parking spaces was across rough pebbly terraine, not at all user friendly or well signposted.
The friendliness of the staff made our stay more enjoyable. They would go above and beyond nothing was a problem for them . Always willing to help you. Scenery was beautiful from the front of the hotel. The room was comfortable except the fire escape view we had which was disappointing. Would definitely return again. Thanks to all the staff.
The view was stunning from the gardens of the hotel. It is the only positive feature of this hotel. The public areas of the hotel have not been decorated and upgraded in years. It felt like a retirement home. The service at the bar and restaurant was good with a helpful manager and staff. The dinner was good too.
The views from the hotel were stunning, the dining room and our bedroom had uninterrupted sea views of Robin Hoods Bay in the distance. The food, service and facilities were exceptional. An excellent choice for anyone who wants to unwind and be pampered in a peaceful environment.
The bar/ food was amazing!! The view is absolutely gorgeous and definitely sells the hotel!
The rooms were nice and comfortable, we would definitely stay again and next time eat an evening meal in the restaurant, we ate food in the bar and it was delicious. Breakfast was nice
Food was wonderful. Staff were lovely and always happy to help. Staff had lots of knowledge about the local area and history of the hotel which was both interesting and helpful.
Will return later in the year.
Loved the deco of the hotel, food amazing, a good hearty breakfast, stunning views, please t helpful joyfully staff, castle walk to Robins Hood Bay, good bus root. Nothing to complain about
