Location - short walk to town centre. Nicely surprised that Ripon had some interesting things to see.
Bathroom was very large. Macerating toilet was noisy. We could hear the adjoining room in the night.

The workhouse, victorian prison and the courthouse were fascinating. Also a beautiful Cathedral, lovely river walks parks. Excellent bus service to Harrogate and surrounding areas, all for £2.00 or bus pass. Nice places to eat and a very pretty little city. Would recommend as once there you don't need a car unless you want to explore further.

Ripon Cathedral was holding a Spring Fayre fundraiser - lots of stalls and a choir festival! There is a Museum walking Trail
There are independent places to eat and one of the larger chains in the market square which suited us!
Unfortunately the Spa Swimming Baths is closed - would've loved to see inside!

Ripon has 3 small museums which are well worth a visit. Try to catch the horn blower who sets the watch every night at 9pm. A pleasant town to walk around and of course the cathedral is a must, including the saxon undercroft.

Ripon had so much more to offer than expected.
Ripon had so much more to offer than expected. Everyone was so friendly, it has a Cathedral, three museums, a beautiful square, market day is on a Thursday. Just 5 minutes drive away is Studley Deer Park and Fountains Abbey, it had a racecourse, beautiful canal and riverside walks , at 9pm a must is a visit to the square to see the Ripon horn-blower blow the horn at the obelise and give a brief history of the Cities traditions.
We stayed at the Blackamoor with its own restaurant, and had a light lunch at Tates Garden Centre , both exceptional.
My first visit to a Wetherspoons Hotel and I was not disappointed. Exceptional value for money with a well equiped and clean room with a very comfortable bed. Staff were friendly and efficient and when checking in, the gentleman told me about the Ripon hornblower at 9pm in the Market Place outside the front of the hotel, a spectacle not to be missed. Food was typical JDW fare, again good value for money.
Situated in a the lovely village of Sawley , next to the village green and opposite the pub. Very comfortable cottage with all the mod cons ! Dog friendly .Down the road from an ice cream shop and easy drive to Brimham rocks, Fountains Abbey, Masham and Ripon. Owner was easy to contact with questions relating to new heating system.
It was off the main road into Ripon, so not one that you could walk. It said on the website, '2 minutes' from Ripon and it was, but by car. I had misread it and thought we were staying in Ripon and could walk around the town.
The food was delicious and Seamus tried hard to be helpful and was very friendly and informative.
Small but well equipped cottage for two people. The host was lovely and the location ideal to access Ripon centre on foot..
Having use of the garden for breakfast and in the evening when we got home, was very relaxing.
The off-street parking space was welcome too.
Amy was so helpful, welcoming, warm and lovely. Everything a host should be.
It had a real homely feel to it and after 3 nights in various hotels/bnb's this was by far out favourite.
Top marks for comfort, decor, cleanliness and hosting!
Staff were all brilliant, the room had everything you could need...and it was the best breakfast we've ever had in a hotel (and we've stayed in lots of places!) We will definitely stay here again if we're back in Ripon.
House is in a great, central location. A beautifully decorated luxury property with well kept garden. Hot tub was a fantastic bonus. Lovely to see Ripon Cathedral across the rooftops from the top floor.
This was a perfect location for us visiting friends in the area. It was also very handy for the local pub less than 5 minutes away. Lovely rural location with easy access to Ripon and beyond.
Large, clean room.
Friendly pub atmosphere.
Great breakfast.
Had a meal here one night and it was also very good.
Friendly, helpful staff.
