As you walked in to the venue the place down stairs ie, reception are ,restaurants were very well decorated and had a relaxing ambiance. This also included the halls and upstairs residence however on closer inspection there was little details that let the cleaning and maintenance down.
The majority of the bedroom was clean but the dust could be seen under the bed and furniture. There was also quite noticeable dust on the bead head . The next area was the bathroom, very attractive however behind the bathroom door on the pipes and towel rail was a heavy coating of dust. The shower silicone was black in places and where water had leaked on the right hand side of the shower tray was black, I scraped my nail through this and pulled up a fair amount of scum and mould. The window inside frames were mouldy.

Room was too hot, window couldn't stay open as the cords in sash windows were broken. Breakfast was downright awful, done by someone who rarely cooks. Pastry was available only on the first morning, but on the second morning, we were told there was no pastry, and however the staff were eating it in the next room...No bananas... Bacon was deep fried, solid as a rock. Really disappointing. Dinner on a first night was fine. So was the manager who took care of us. Very moody bartender, on our first evening.. very helpful cleaners and staff otherwise.

This was a one night stay as my colleague and I were on a business trip. We didn't arrive until late, however, we still managed to order a very fulfilling dinner. Staff could not do enough for us and the rooms were clean and authentic, this is a very old building dating back to the 1800's and I believe still holds some of the original features.
