The town is very picturesque, nice walks down by the river. There is a cycle path that runs all along the busway, from St Ives to Cambridge. This is flat, completely traffic-free and about 15 miles each way.

We were going to St Ives for the annual and amazing Old Riverport Jazz and Blues Festival - now in its 9th year - four days of free !!! awesome bands which coincides with the Heritage Open day in St Ives. Because the music was hosted for free it meant everyone had a bit more money available to pay to get to St Ives and / or to have a bit of treat. St Ives has the perfect medieval layout for such an event and the weather was perfect for the outdoor music events. Discovering the quirky venues in such a beautiful historical riverside town was a real joy, and the quality of the muscians made it a genuinally special bit of magic.

Lovely little riverside town with plenty of amenities. Some great restaurants, we'd recommend Di Ritas Italian, and the Hambleton Bakery (next door to Waitrose). We had a charter trip on the Electric Boat company, and that's 5Star! You must try it, but book in advance.

I like the mix of little shops and cafes, and there are lovely walks by the river and beyond. We enjoyed the fabulous food at the Italian restaurant on the waterfront, and its a good idea to book, it’s very popular. It’s very easy to get around, with a lot of paved walk ways, and we walked everywhere. I was disappointed in the amount of larger shops that have closed, but sadly this is the same in many small towns, so I am not being critical of St Ives.

Interesting and attractive Cambridgeshire market town.

Interesting and attractive Cambridgeshire market town. We were only over-nighting, so didn't have the opportunity to investigate the town's attractions. The riverside looked especially pretty. Definitely enough promise to tempt us back for a day trip.

No thru traffic which made walking around the town very pleasant; old river bridge out of the town and river quay is delightful. Very old buildings to admire and the flower market together with the food market on another morning made shopping a really enjoyable experience for the visitor to the town.
