We only went for the Haynes motor museum on one day and Fleet Air Arm museum the next, both were excellent and well worth it. Sparkford central to both and didn't investigate the area further as we had our days planned.

I use this hotel/pub sometimes when travelling to Plymouth from London as it is very close to the A303, is family run, and has a good choice of food. In the Summer there are good walks over fields and footpaths to nearby villages, and in the winter ( or at any time of year) the nearby Haynes Motor Museum is a wonderful place to while away an hour or two with stunningly restored cars and motor cycles from around the world through the ages.

Sparkford itself is a linear town with little to see but it does have an excellent Museum of motoring which is outstanding . It is also surrounded by countryside but so it the whole of the west country . We ate a t the Sparkford Inn and the food was excellent - but some of the staff were grumpy and unhelpful .I would not stay at the Inn again .

We had an evening meal which was good. Staff could have been more welcoming on arrival. The room kettle was situated where the plug did not reach the socket! Had to move furnisher around to boil water for hot drinks.

I enjoyed my stop over after driving down from London en rout to my holiday home in Devon.
Nice to follow footpaths across fields and visit the local church and then finish up with a glass of cider and a tasty meat pie and fall asleep in a warm and comfortable bed.
It sets me up for the rest of my journey the next day, which I could do in one day but I enjoy the stop over now and will keep going back there.
We loved the actual building and the location. We love older buildings, particularly when the interior has been done in sympathy with the age and style of the exterior, as we saw at the Sparkford Inn. The location was perfect because, not only was it stunningly beautiful, it was halfway between our home in Kent and our holiday destination. The breakfast they provided was very good and the room where we had it was a peaceful, relaxing, environment to start the day.
Staff were absolutely amazing! Couldnt do enough for you.
We had trouble with our room key when we came back around just after mid night.
We contacted the hotel thinking that maybe it would of been too late, but the man came and let us in.
He and the young lady with brown hair were amazing and very polite.
Thanks for an amazing stay. Will definitely stay again and would recommend to others.
Thank you!
Rustic Inn, spacious room, evening food was good, but breakfast not available (Macdonalds just up the road) & staff friendly.
Clearly affected by A303 By Pass which now goes round Sparkford.
