‘The Den’ Self contained one bedroom annexe., hotel in Stockbridge

Located just 18 km from Salisbury Train Station, ‘The Den’ Self contained one bedroom annexe. Provides accommodation in Stockbridge with access to a garden, a terrace, as well as bicycle parking.

What a wonderful place to stay in such an idyllic and peaceful location. Everything you need is available, of great quality, and Sue is a very nice engaging host, who is there to show where, and how it all works. The annexe is delightful, private, peaceful with everything at hand. Great wifi, quiet, with a small veranda to sit on, and listen to the stream running past and the birds singing. Near to many attractions, yet far enough away to be secluded in tranquil countryside. This is a beautiful part of the country, with great views, and small villages to see, and of course, nice country pubs, To base yourself here, you would not be disappointed. Had a wonderful nights stay and would galdy do so again.

Stockbridge has a variety of lovely independent shops, cafes and pubs. There is free parking along the length of the village and lovely walks across the water meadows by the river Test. It's a great base for visiting some amazing gardens like Mottisfont, Houghton Lodge and Longstock. Also an easy 20 minute drive into Winchester which is a lovely day out.

A stunning village with plenty of restaurants and quirky little shops. The trout streams running at side of pavement are a delight, especially after dark when the trout can be seen swimming around.

A ribbon town over various tributeries of the River Test and the River itself. A lot of shops to facilitiate the very expensive chalk stream trout fishing, and other outdoor activities. Everyone we spoke to were very pleasant. Interesting gardens nearby (Houghton Lodge) and also the Leckworth (John Lewis) estate.

Overall it was satisfactory but it would have been better to have had 2 chairs in the double bedroom, rather than one person having to sit on the bed! Mayfly room above kitchen subject to appreciable noise from the kitchen equipment when being operated. Instructions for using internet unclear.

And when you write a review pointing out to the landlord that the promised breakfast never arrived....does he apologise ? No...does he do or say anything...No. His food is excellent, but if I'm promised breakfast and he's sleeping off a hangover after a "lock in" with locals, well frankly that's not my problem....I paid for breakfast, you gave me nothing.....facts.... My suggestion to other travellers, Saturday dinner is very very good , don't expect breakfast.

I had stayed here a few years ago and there have been a lot of changes since then. The newer rooms are very high quality, with everything you could need in them. They were modern but with an old-fashioned theme, so the shower worked perfectly, the doors closed, and nothing squeaked unlike a lot of "old world charm" that other hotels advertise. Food was great, service and staff very polite and attentive and would definitely stay again when in the area.

I have stayed in quite a few hotels recently with work and can safely say The Three Cups Inn was the very best.Amazing value for money and will definitely stay again. The room was amazingly comfortable, as was the bed, the facilities were second to none, and the food (Breakfast and supper) were fabulous. The garden of the Inn was incredible also. The staff were friendly and courteous and this Inn is clearly loved by locals and guests alike.

It was my first time at this property, and I will be back. The first thing is the service that the Greyhound on the Test Hotel provides - It was a great experience from check-in to check-out, and everything in between. The food was great (evening meal and breakfast were both lovely), and they also had a good selection of local real ales. Very nice bedroom and ensuite, and very clean. I definitely recommend.

The breakfast was exceptional - one of the best Full English breakfasts I've had in hundred of hotels over the years. For the evening meal I had fish and chips which was also exceptional - crisply fried fresh fish and excellent chips. They also had a couple of excellent hand pumped beers.
