Nothing was too much travel. The General Manager was exceptional. Location albeit remote was exactly what we were looking for.
The Strontian Hotel offers guests a luxurious bed and breakfast experience on the banks of Loch Sunart.

We absolutely loved the location. We booked their suite which had a beautiful view and a very comfortable bed. The pub / restaurant downstairs was a lot of fun. Food was delicious and the staff were wonderful. Wish we stayed longer.
With empty roads and even emptier hills, the Ben View Phoenix Hotel is the perfect place to explore the best-kept secret in Britain - Ardnamurchan.

Graham is as wonderful a host as all his previous reviews avow. He could not have been friendlier or more helpful. Dinners and breakfasts were very substantial and tasty. His Tanzanian curry was especially delicious. My left over salad ( because I had no more room to expand) was transformed into a substantial lunch for two the following day. Graham has a rare talent for doing what he does so well.
Heatherbank Guest House looks down on Strontian and Loch Sunart, and is situated 30 km from Fort William. Every room is equipped with a flat-screen TV.

We felt truly relaxed at the Heatherbank Guest House. Paul and Lorna were very welcoming and keen to offer suggestions for places to visit. Paul's porridge is amazing. The best porridge I've ever had, and I'm not exaggerating. A great lounge area for a nightcap and offering great views in the morning. Really recommend staying here.
Coille Darach B&B provides rooms in Strontian. This bed and breakfast offers free private parking, a 24-hour front desk and free WiFi.

Everything….bright, spacious, comfortable beds, very clean, equipped with everything you need, lovely wee welcome pack, fantastic view over the loch, totally enclosed garden for dogs. Great location for walks and sightseeing. Really nice, helpful host
Liked · Just the view.!!!!
Didn't like · The reception was very modest, and with the 3rd sentence I was already asked to pay for my stay in advance.
The room, called SUNART Suite, was not worth the price.
It was practically unheated, the radiators could not be operated. In all other hotels on this trip it was possible. Then after a few hours the heaters warmed up to a lukewarm state, but only for a short time. The heated towel rail in the bathroom only worked in the bottom third and could not be used. In order to go to the dining room, you had to leave the main building so that you could get to the restaurant.
I can describe the food as very good.
In this part, too, it was rather uncomfortably cold until the window was closed after complaints from some guests.

Strontian is so well placed for visiting this beautiful area of Scotland. It’s at the head of the quiet Ardnamuchan peninsula and within a short drive from iconic places such as Fort William and Mallaig. The area is simply wonderful for wildlife enthusiasts who want a relaxing, peaceful and mindful experience.

Lots to do in Strontian.
Lots to do in Strontian. Good walks in Ariundle forest reserve, plus swimming in the Strontian river there. Beaches on the loch for swimming and boating. It looked as if there was some lovely mountain walking but we weren't there long enough. Kilcamb hotel very nice for dinner.

Do not go till the Pandemic is past, but when safe again, it is beautiful, on the glorious loch, very good, well supplied and friendly shops and cafe. Good hotels, B&Bs, excellent food in many places. Walking paradise, canoeing and sailing, heavenly scenery.

Love the location and views , rooms comfortable and dog friendly but lacking that attention to detail that it used to have.
Spent first half hour ringing receiption for things I would normally expect to be in the room without asking, ie tea/coffee tray , iron and ironing board.
Paid extra for the seven course taster menu and was sadly disappointed with the standard, pasta to thick , duck dish like a Chinese take away , fish course poor .
We have visited Kilcamb many times over the past 12 years but having also stayed in similar priced hotels in Scotland now find Kilcamb over priced and not the exceptional hotel it used to be.

The place is remote but with a number of different holiday homes around. The shop is a few miles away near the oban ferry crossing. The place was great, log fire, shared shower and another wc. Kitchen has the usual utencils plus a washing machine and huge cooker. there are some lovely walks nearby and the star gazing.excellent. There is a dive centre nearby (although I didn't try it) and it is possible to do a day trip to mull. For me, I would recommend the nearby old castle walk and finding some unspoilt cove. The three rooms in the main bunk house have bunkbeds which are a but rickity but do the job.
I found the other people staying like minded and avoiding the late summer busyness elsewhere. I would recommend it.
From the moment I arrived and was made welcome to the time of my departure three days later I felt welcome. The location is perfect, the premises beautiful. My room was large and modern, shower room design modern and very large. Breakfast had an exceptional choice, together with vegetarian options. I shall most certainly return. The service in my opinion equals if not surpasses that of a 5 star high quality hotel.
The wi-fi is free and easily accessible within the house.
We had a lovely time at Graeme’s hotel. It was a little off the beaten track but easy to find. When we arrived (later than anticipated), Graeme could not have been more accommodating. He offered a choice of bedrooms and made us feel very welcome. While the hotel isn’t the most modern, it’s clear it’s ran with love and care for entertaining guests. It was cheap and cheerful, and I wouldn’t hesitate to return.
Set in a stunning location with an interesting history, this hotel is a real gem. Wonderful owner and colleagues who were so welcoming and friendly, without being over the top. We arrived on bikes and were able to make use of the on-site secure storage units. Great attention to detail. Rooms lovely. Piping hot water. Super menu in the restaurant. Thank you

Could not fault this charming little guest house. Nestled in the beautiful hills surrounding Strontian, you will be hard pushed to find a more relaxing spot. Paul & Lorna were excellent and hospitable from welcome to goodbye. I would stay here again in a heart beat.
Graham is a character and a real sweetheart. He’s very knowledgeable about the area, loves Otis Redding and Elvis, and is a great cook. It was raining during my whole stay, so I spent a lot of cozy time at the hotel. I was made to feel very welcome and comfortable.
all facilities for a self accommodation stay and more all provided- everything was thought of. Great set up and great view of the Highlands too. Fantastic bread and scones provided on arrival that stayed fresh throughout the visit.
We enjoyed our stay from the moment we entered the hotel and were greeted by our host,'Alexander'. The hotel was warm and comfortable, with a log fire in the reception lounge where we met a delightful couple with a lovely dog!
The location - Strontian - is extremely beautiful and the house is only a few minutes' walk away from both the shops (and information centre) in one direction and the Ariundle Nature Research (and tea rooms) in the others.
Not the easiest place to get to but a very nice guesthouse near Strontian. Paul and Lorna are lovely hosts and helped us with making diner arrangements. Will visit again when in the region.
Very friendly and welcoming hosts who went out of their way to make us comfortable. Also really helpful about what to see and do in the Strontian area.
