I used to live in Swindon and there are parts to avoid, ann the bottom of town isn't what it used to be, but for a great night out, there is Old Town. For country walks there is Lydiard Park and Coate Water. The surrounding villages and towns and close to the Cotswolds, Swindon is great for a central point

MacArthur Glenn outlet was good. Homesense too
Swindon has too many terrible drivers, who drive too fast & too close. There need to be traffic calming measures & more traffic lights.
Terrible, inconsiderate drivers can't be trusted to obey rules & use roundabouts properly.

The ambiance and excellent food exceeded our expectations.
The ambiance and excellent food exceeded our expectations. The room was spacious and fully equipped. The only negative was the bed was slightly smaller than a double which was a shame as a king size would have easily fitted.

There are some lovely parks in Swindon that if you are staying for leisure are worth a visit; Coate Water near junction 15 of M4; Lydiard Park near junction 16.
The Town centre isn’t much to write home about, but a visit to the Great Western Train Village and Museum is very worthwhile. There is also a Macarther Glenn designer, Outlet Centre that is easy to get to with ample parking. At the outlet centre, we enjoy eating at Wagamama's. If you venture over to Greenridge, there is a Fiesta de Cuba restaurant. The meals are great and the price is very reasonable. We find just having a main is ample. It’s our favourite restaurant. Swindon has great transport links to reach surrounding areas; Cotswolds, Oxford, Bath, Bristol and Chippenham are all within shouting distance.

East access to nearby attractions, the M4 and major roads.
East access to nearby attractions, the M4 and major roads. The town itself, both the Old- & and New-town, is a little faded and run down in parts but overall fairly vibrant. Very good range of restaurants to suit most tastes. The pubs I visited were all warm and friendly with decent beer. Never any problems walking around the well signposted town daytime and evening. Overall a surprisingly interesting place surrounded by outstanding areas such as the Cotswolds, the Marlborough Downs and several classical English villages
I am a regular Worldwide user of hotels and serviced accommodation through Booking.com and this location was one of the very best. Excellent room (en suite) free parking right outside the property, free high speed internet and an excellent breakfast to boot. DO NOT waste your money on a hotel chain if you are staying in Swindon as this has everything you need (at an extremely competitive price) I will be using this place again on future business in the area.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was delicious (especially scrambled eggs) although breakfast options unclear and ordered in advance. Decor great and in keeping with it's heritage. Location was excellent admidst boutique shops, a walk or bus ride downhill to Swindon town centre. Parking was handy at the rear of the hotel. Mattress was comfortable although bedframe not so much.
Everything was perfect . Also all the time when we go for holidays we always stay in holiday inn express but none of the staff told us about the membership but this time with holiday inn Swindon city centre the receptionist mrs Tracey was very helpful and told us about the membership policy and it is because of her I have joined the membership . A mighty thanks to her .
Really lovely hotel, nestled away in the countryside, but minutes away from Swindon. The buildings are lovely and maintained to a high standard, although still maintain plenty of character. The staff were all consistently really friendly and extremely helpful and made such a difference to the stay.
Good sized room, with good disabled facilities, Comfortable. Breakfast buffet pretty good for type of hotel. Reception and bar staff very helpful. the hotel has excellent facilities although our stay did not allow the opportunity to use them. Very spacious, convenient for Marlborough and Swindon.
Absolutely amazing! Highly recommended. Siobhan is so welcoming and friendly, and her home is so beautiful. Better than a hotel, she's thought of every comfort you could ever want. If you're ever near Swindon or want to visit the cotswolds stay with her as the prices are amazing!
The location of the house is fantastic, in walking proximity to town centre, old town and town gardens. The bedroom furniture, beds, linen, towels, living area, kitchen & kitchen appliances were clean. Smart tv and wifi were in good working condition.
This hotel is well situated in the heart of the Old Town of Swindon. You can get a meal on site and they have vegan options which is a bonus. The bed was comfortable and the room was adequate or my needs.
The hotel was excellent, super clean, new and the best part was that they accepted our dog and were really friendly with him. The food in the restaurant was outstanding. We would definitely come back.
Hotel was excellent value for money! Located near the train station and very near to Old Town which was lovely in the evening. Staff were all fabulous and an absolute credit to your hotel!
The beds were reasonably comfortable, location was good for the old town, around 15 minutes walk to the main town centre, grocery shops within 2 minutes walk.
