The hut was lovely -particularly appreciated the eco values & compost loo. Nice area, and lots of options for food and things to do locally.

There were three of us and we booked 2 rooms. One was superb and spacious on the top floor .
The continental breakfast was good, with the option to pay for a cooked breakfast, also good.

Friendly town, lovely meal in the Queensferryand Buccleuch Hotel, and excellent Chinese takeaway too. There were loads of cafes and a couple of independent shops, and well stocked Co op and Spar. Had a good walk in the grounds at nearby Drumlanrig Castle.

Lovely location for exploring south west Scotland. Very close to Drumlanrig Castle amazing country walks and spectacular castle. Went to the beach at Carse which was great for dog walks. Thornhill itself had a lovely local pub with good valued food. Local bakery and butchers plus Co-op and Spar.

Thornhill is a small village in “the middle of nowhere.” This is what a local said to me. The scenery is beautiful with the rolling hills and the farmers fields. The village itself is quaint with impressive looking buildings.

Thornhill is a really quiet place but its in a great location for exploring the surrounding areas and makes a change from the overcrowded Lake District. Having said that there are very few other options in the town for eating and drinking.
It was the best night away I've had in a while - something different and definitely worth it! The bed was like sleeping on a cloud, far comfier than I've ever had staying in a hotel! I loved the decor and getting up in the morning to birds singing and the most wonderful view definitely topped it off. Zoe and Tony were a lovely couple and very welcoming. We will be staying again!
Lovely warm welcome and introduction to hotel. Room very well appointed and equipped, and each room had a name! Loved the tartan carpets throughout!
Friendly atmosphere everywhere, and staff could not have been more welcoming, helpful and attentive. Restaurant very good for breakfast and evening meals.
Very convenient holiday home: light and spacious and ideally located in the middle of a region with lots of things to do and see. The village of Thornhill is well equipped with small supermarkets, pubs, restaurants and even a coffee bar although the general atmosphere is average.
The cottage itself was just perfect. Everything was right there and so clean and comfy. Stayed over in Thornhill for a wedding so didn't spend much time in the cottage and didn't get to utilise the little garden. Would gladly stay there again if the need ever arose.
The hotel looks smart outside and in, and felt like someone had tried to make it feel contemporary but homely. The staff were friendly and the beer garden in particular was lovely in the sunny weather. The BBQ option for food in the beer garden was a nice touch.
Lovely cosy cottage to spend Christmas with my husband. Well equipped kitchen and we loved the log burner. Bed very big and comfortable. Within good commuting distance of Dumfries for food shopping. Would highly recommend booking a stay here.
had a lovely stay & Elizabeth was superb host & made sure all was satsfactory. The period house is very comfortable & spacious with quiet relaxed atmosphere....very different from the city hotels & stopovers :)
Lovely location for walking or cycling. A few miles away is Thornhill which has some lovely eating places. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly and the property is very clean and well equipped.
Everything, perfect location, supplied everything that was needed, definitely recommend and will book again, wouldn't stay at a hotel again when there are places like this to stay
We enjoy the peacefulness of the location, with no main roads nearby, lots of wildlife, and country walks. It is close to Thornhill so you can visit this town.
The hotel was clean and well presented. Staff were helpful and pleasant. Food from the restaurant was lovely and well priced and the wine was delicious.
