We stayed for just one night in the Wisteria Suite as a stopover on our long-distance walk along the Grand Union Canal. It was wonderful. Everything about this place is generous, from the warm welcome, the size of the room, the enormous bed and the array of complimentary snacks and treats - even milk and soft drinks in the fridge. No plastic thimble-sized pots of UHT milk here!
As we were travelling very light, I really appreciated the thoughtful details such as the magnifying mirror in the bathroom. The breakfast hamper was also a treat, and what we couldn't manage for breakfast became our packed lunch for the walk ahead.
The Old Chapel is perfectly situated, less than 100m from the canal, and only a few steps more away from two pubs and an Indian Restaurant.

The cottage was beautiful in a lovely location. Facilities were excellent and the bed was super comfy. We had a lovely welcome with fresh bread and milk and logs for the fire. It was a cosy little cottage, nice and warm and it had everything we needed.

Breakfast was excellent value for money. A choice of continental and or traditional, fresh pastries and fruit each morning and a decent cup of coffee. Hot food was very good, well presented and cooked fresh. Room was a nice size and beds comfy if a little soft. Restaurant staff friendly. Food good and excellent atmosphere. I was worried staying in a pub and our room was over the bar but by 11.30 at the latest all quiet and peaceful

A lovely High Street with lots of different shops. A good scattering of restaurants, especially the Truva, a Turkish restaurant. genuinely authentic Turkish food (I have lived in Turkey). Seemed a very nice town . Bletchley Par and Silverstone were the plan. However we gave Silverstone a miss and went to the Canal Museum instead. Would recommend B.P. it was wonderful. Canal Museum picturesque and tranquil.

Stayed in Towcester - an area I knew well as we had lived close by 20 years ago. We were reuniting with old friends for a night out so The Saracen’s was well located. It is an old coaching inn which has been refurbished over the years and was very welcoming. Our room was small but ok but we had problems with the bathroom ( shower leaked and flooded the floor), comfortable enough for a one night stay.

The place is in Stoke Bruerne, about 3 miles from Towcester.
The place is in Stoke Bruerne, about 3 miles from Towcester. It is right on the banks of the canal and the museum. Boat rides can be taken from just outside the back gate. Lovely walks along the tow paths. Two local pubs within a couple of minutes walk, which are fine and a good Indian restaurant although we ate in Towcester itself, which was a five minute drive. Very good.

Horse racing and antique hunting.country pubs . Does have take away joints indian chip shops Chinese,etc. Nice old town with good variety of non high street chain shops i.e. Not the usual "sports direct ,top shop .rubbish . that can be found in coventry or daventry.

The Old Talbot was a welcome surprise. The rooms at the back of the hotel are at ground level, so no carry luggage upstairs, and the rooms look new and are superb. The food at the pub is first c;lass, and lucky for us they had a trivia night. The staff were great, and the atmosphere very good. Really glad we picked this one!!

When you’re working away from home to come stay somewhere that feels like a home makes such a difference. I normally stay at the hotel that’s at the Silverstone circuit but this was the best find and just 10 minutes away. I will definitely stay again.
