Lovely settings, quaint little log cabin. My son loved the ponies in the field opposite and the lighthouse on the hill! Rooms were kitted out perfectly and felt very homely.

The warm welcome with tea and cake available as we arrived. The log fire, and guest lounge to chill on a cold winter's eve. Our host was attentive, hospitable and full of amusing stories. She also recommended local hostelries for our eve meal.

Very friendly people who greeted me as I walked around and/or asked for help. We were there on the night of lanterns and watched it from the living room. A strong showing of community participation. I loved it.

A quaint ,typical Lake District town.
A quaint ,typical Lake District town. Windy streets with nooks and crannies and something to discover on every corner. An awesome selection of eateries and cafes. Some like "4 penny cafe" were quirky ,friendly and the food to die for. The scenery was beautiful. The town is clean and easy to navigate. It has a Thursday market. And of course ,the Laurel and Hardy museum.

Having lived in Ulverston for a few months in 2016, I know...
Having lived in Ulverston for a few months in 2016, I know the town and surroundings fairly well. If you want to spend time, as I do, in a scenic area with both fells/hills and sea nearby, this could be the place for you! The town is small enough, if you want to avoid the stress and hassle of a larger town or city. And yet there are enough descent places to enjoy a good meal and/or a drink. There is a theatre/concert hall with a good programme of events, and a cinema. And there is often folk music in one of the pubs. Places to visit include the birthplace of John Barrow (mariner and explorer), a museum celebrating Laurel and Hardy (Stan Laurel was a native of Ulverston), and Swarthmoor Hall which played a key role in the beginnings of Quakerism in the 17th century. There is a fine view of the town and the beautiful surroundings from the top of Hoad Hill - just a short climb from the edge of the town.
This is our second visit to Guardswood at Newland Valley Log Cabins and we look forward to booking our third stay in the future. The cabin is beautiful inside and out, it has everything needed and it is immaculately clean. The location is great, a short drive to the Lake District and close to amenities and places to eat out. Waking up to the alpaca’s roaming outside and by the window was a bonus too.
This is a delightful property - beautifully presented throughout and really well equipped. The comprehensive information provided about the cottage made it easy to find and modify (for example) the heating. The cottage has the advantage of being within easy walking distance of the town centre, whilst still being quiet enough to sleep with a window open.
The location was wonderful as a complete getaway from busy life. I was attending the Buddhist festival in Ulverston, and needed to have cooking facilities for my diet. Being able to cook for myself in such a lovely quiet location was ideal. My husband was meant to be with me, but due to work commitments couldn't make it. I felt very safe on my own.
The cabin was absolutely gorgeous and way bigger than I expected! The local area was also lovely and great location to look around the Lake District. The host was incredibly responsive, I booked very last minute and was due to arrive very late in the evening but they were very accommodating and flexible. Would love to stay here again!
Location was excellent - 1 minute fromm the town centre and quiet.
Facilities were superb - very much a home-from-home and fully equipped. All the essentials were also in place (dishwasher tabs, washing up liquid etc) so I hope my contribution of laundry liquid (I had muddy cycling kit to deal with) added to the stoocks :)
The property is in the perfect location to explore the Lake District and there are plenty of walks in the surrounding area. The beds were super comfortable and the property did few like a home away from home. the interior was designed well. very dog friendly too!
The views location and staff were excellent - I can't thank the lady who gave me a lift to tehe stayus on the sunday on her day off enough. Hotel was comfortable and clean.
Ulverston sundays have no taxis running - book in advance!
Very clean and well appointed kitchen & living room.
Kitchen had some basic food items and the host left a large lemon cake which was great.
Bathroom was large and well appointed.
Good location for walking into Ulverston center.
My son is a student paramedic training at the university of Cumbria with placement in Ulverston, but his accomdation is in Lancaster. After a 12 hour shift, I wanted a lovely place for him to stay between shifts. Thank you x
Right in town centre with a car park next to it. Car park rate is 60p/h 9am to 7pm. Furnishings in the home is of good quality. Just be mindful it is 4 levels. No issue for us but for those who don't like stairs...
Spent a couple of days at the hotel. Area was lovely, was just a short walk into the centre of Ulverston and the facilities were fantastic value for the money. Thanks to Sam and his family for their hospitality.
Central Location in Ulverston, plenty of space for 3 people. Good base for walking in the Lakes, plenty of pubs and restaurants within 5 minutes walk. Would recommend.
Everything we needed, and very convenient for the center of Ulverston, including the near by tesco to pick up extra milk and tea.
The bed is really comfortable.
