A Regency house overlooking Ullswater, the Macdonald Leeming House has an award-winning restaurant and views of the Cumbrian Fells. It is a 15-minute drive from the M6 motorway.

Exceptional service. The staff went out of their way to help us and provided a special Vegan menu for us for dinner and breakfast.
Just outside of Penrith, the Brantwood Hotel is less than 3 miles from Ullswater. Just one mile from the junction 40 of M6 it offers en suite bedrooms and TVs.

Meals excellent, good value. Our room was big as was en-suite, room was clean, bed comfortable. Convenient location.
Nestled peacefully amongst the Eastern Lakeland Fells and located on many of the best-loved Lakeland walks, this charming country retreat is ideal for a peaceful break in Dockray.
A traditional family-owned pub in Greystoke, The Boot and Shoe is only a 10-minute drive from the M6 motorway. The Lake District National Park is around 30 minutes’ drive away.

We were on the way to Scotland, MeadoGoodw View was relatively close to the M6.
Friendly hosts
Excellent breakfast, choice was very good.
Nearby Pub (walking distance) offered good pub food.
Watermillock is like the name of the area. Just odd houses and the A592 which runs through it. I believe that most of the attractions of the Lake District are away from this accommodation. However, Ullswater is visible from the road, and lots of walks and eating places are not far away.

We did a couple of walks along the Ullswater, travelling by steamer and bus as well as by car. It was beautiful and quiet. We enjoyed visiting Pooley Bridge for meals, café and bookshop, as well as meals at Another Place.

Fabulous views form where we stayed.
Fabulous views form where we stayed. It was very near Aira Force Waterfalls a National Trust woodland walk.
It is a good base if you need to take your dog to visit Veterinary Vision in Penrith. The room was perfect for a family

The receptionist at the tail on arrival was underwhelming say the least.
The room was small and rather shabbily furnished. The hotel advertises itself as a four star hotel but is actually a three star hotel. The restaurant food is way overpriced and very poor value for money. There is a 10% service charge on top of the food which is not discretionary as in every other hotel. Other than location there is little else of merit in this hotel and I would certainly not recommend staying there. If you are unfortunate enough to have booked to stay there I would advise that you have your meals on room service which is better value than the restaurant

Our B&B at Lowthwaite was first class, we were very happy to have booked to stay there. Watermillock is set in beautiful scenery around Ullswater. I would love to go again, but would avoid eating at the inn in Dockray next time.

Good location for a two-night stopover, The hotel restaurant was excellent. Hotel facilities were a little dated, but not a big issue. Gardens are extensive, with a short walk to the shore of Ullswater.
We had a lovely stay at Ullswater View. Quick drives to Pooley Bridge, Glenridding and Aira Force Falls. Service was excellent. Great breakfast, very clean facilities, comfortable room. The staff was wonderful and willing to share ideas on where to go. There are several walking trails in the area and the packed lunch from the hotel was perfect for our walk. And the honor bar was very much appreciated after a long day of walking.
The room was small but ergonomically designed so was perfectly adequate. The bathroom was excellent, we liked the simple shower controls. The room looked newly decorated and was spotlessly clean.
Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice and the produce was first class.
The B&B is not lakeside but the view of Ullswater and its environs from the room window was very pleasing.
The staff are friendly and accommodating.
My partner and I came to this hotel for our 1 year anniversary and New Years Eve. Every staff member we engaged with was welcoming and pleasant with smiles all around. The food was delicious and our room was large, warm and clean with views over the gardens and lake. (Room 1). We would be happy to stay again in future. The staff definitely deserve all the credit for our stay, we were very happy.
We rarely leave any review, but we’ve been really impressed by the kindness of our hosts, and their attention to detail. Quiet and intimate, this is the perfect retreat for a couple wishing to spent quality time minutes away from the gorgeous Ullswater.
Great room, great house and cleanliness is above standard.
Thanks again, highly recommended and we can’t wait to come back!
A great variety of choice for breakfast, well presented. The location is superb as this is really 'off the beaten track' but Ullswater, Pooley Bridge and Keswick are easily accessible. Endless opportunities for walks both long and short, demanding and relaxing. Lots of wildlife, red squirrels and birds.A good 'leg stretcher' to Aira Force waterfalls
A very nice hotel in a lovely location with pleasant grounds sweeping down to the banks of Ullswater. The room was large, very comfortable and with plenty of clothes storage. The public rooms were spacious and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Whether at £200-£300 per night this is good value is less clear.
Breakfast was exceptional with lots of choices, Michelle was awesome! Although there were no views of Ullswater Lake, there were spectacular views of the surrounding hills and fields. Location was quiet with no surrounding commercial activity but still close to Pooley Bridge with great restaurants and boat cruise pier.
Cosy, well equipped, great location for walking. Close to buses if your doing the Ullswater way. In fact its on the Ullswater way if you want to do it in one hit. Pooley bridge is close by. As is Penrith for food shopping. We really enjoyed our stay there. The view is wonderful. Would go back.
The view overlooking Ullswater was lovely .The room was spotless , had 2 chocs waiting for us on arrival . Dressing gowns and biscuits were also left in our room which were little extras . There was an honesty bar and a lovely conservatory. The breakfasts were well cooked with decent options.
this is truly a dog friendly hotel. Our 2 Irish Red Setters were welcome as much as we were. earlier in the year we experienced a dog friendly hotel which was basically lip service. we would definitely recommend this hotel if your taking your dogs.
An excellent accommodation that suited the 3 of us just fine. Just like being at home, with all the usual comforts of home. Spacious, warm, comfortable, beautiful outlook across to Ullswater, quiet and really quite isolated.
Lots of great hiking trails nearby, and the staff were extremely helpful and accomodating. The breakfast was great, and it was awesome that they offered a sandwich or light meal to help when doing a hiking day.
The Views of Ullswater Lake were amazing
The Location was great - and with a Bus Service in both directions at bottom of lane
