Location, both check in and breakfast staff and the room. Having stayed previously a few times, I knew what to expect and overall, I wasn't disappointed.
Situated on the banks of the River Ouse, The Queens Hotel is ideally located for the many shops, restaurants and bars that the centre of York has to offer.

A boutique Art Nouveau hotel in historic York. Minutes from the heart of the city, overlooking the Knavesmire Strays, lies the Elmbank Hotel, a unique 19th-century mansion with a rich history.

Decent breakfast, good facilities. Room was massive. Plenty room for our double bed and the daughters single bed. Still loads of floor space. Car parking right across street.

Lovely relaxing location just on the outskirt of beautiful York. Accommodate very cosy and peaceful, very enjoyable trip. A good idea to book a taxi into York in advance and a must for the return trip, plenty of taxi firms to choose. Lovely farm cafe open for breakfast and other options near by. Lots of local character pubs about. Lighting the fire pit in the evening made it feel very autumnal and blankets provided in the accommodation to cosy up with. Lovely scenic location

I went to the Black Horse pub in the village and I can honestly say, it was the friendliest and most welcoming pub, I have ever been in!! They welcomed my dog inside, which was really important for me and the chef literally tailor made my meals for me, when he found out from the lovely waitress, that I was vegetarian! The village was small, pretty and had a really useful little shop, selling local produce and little necessities. Easy access to main roads but far away enough from them to know you were in a village.
