The owner was very pleasant, accommodating and helpful. The room and bathroom were very well furnished, comfortable and clean. I had everything I needed. The bed was very, very comfortable and I had a wonderful night's sleep. The cooked breakfast was lovely and freshly cooked to order. The location is great as it's very central. I'd happily recommend Gordon House and I would certainly stay here again.

The hosts were excellent and went out of their way to make us very welcome. The breakfast was also excellent, with items bought especially for our difficult gluten and dairy-free diets. The en-suite shower room was spotless, and hot water plentiful.

The Tool Shed, hotel in Wimborne Minster

Situated in Wimborne Minster and only 24 km from Salisbury Racecourse, The Tool Shed features accommodation with garden views, free WiFi and free private parking.

We were looking for somewhere quiet and relaxing from which we could do a long walk, preferably ending in a great pub, and The Tool Shed was the most perfect fit. It was really well connected by car and has loads of public footpaths to take you on gorgeous trips through the countryside. We chose a 7 mile walk to the Sixpenny Brewery in Cranborne and it was glorious! We found wild garlic behind the church in Wimborne St Giles and saw hares and kingfishers along the way. The house itself is in an absolutely idyllic setting with gorgeous views (and an adorable dog). Tracey was so accommodating and communicative in the run up, but left us to enjoy the stay once we'd arrived which was perfect. The property was cosy but surprisingly spacious with a large bedroom and living/dining area. Really comfortable bed, and a good shower. The breakfast items and general essentials provided were great, and the galley kitchen had everything we needed. On our way home we popped by the Cranborne Chase cider shack (5mins drive) to get some delicious Dorset cider to take home as well - highly recommended.

Wimborne Minster is a very picturesque town, with lots of cafe's, restaurant and shops, both high street names and independents, to explore. Sitting in the square, drinking a coffee and people watching, is a lovely way to pass an hour or so.

The town has a lovely selection of shops and cafes, something for everyone! There is a small museum, a beautiful church and a model of the town (the latter being great for children)! You can really chill out and relax in Wimborne Minster!

Quintessential English town with charming understated architecture and pleasant atmosphere. Good pubs/restaurants. The Minster is lovely to visit and worth the climb up the spiral stone staircase to see and hear about the chained library (one of only 5 left) but check opening times for the library. The Priests museum is also worth a visit and lovely garden for tea. Also, handy in reach of NT’s Kingston Lacey which is well worth 2-3 hours.

We went there for the folk festival as we have done several times in the past. It wasn't actually a folk festival this time despite being billed as such, due to the prevalence of highly amplified rock music everywhere around the town and very few venues for folk music. The rock music/noise machines drowned out the Morris sides at times. The main organiser was heard to say to one of the Morris Dance leaders "it's not actually a folk festival, it's a music festival". Strange this, because the website and programme describe it as Wimborne Minster Folk Festival and all the helpers were wearing WMFF emblems, not WMMF.

The whole experience was first class. The owner met me and assisted with luggage. She was helpful. The room was very well situated and furnished. All the things you needed were there not like a lot of hotels and b and bs who have cut down on what used to be expected. Lovely area walkable to centre. Parking.

Spotless, spacious and well equipped studio with everything well-considered and thought of by the host, even as far as placing a cone at the slightly concealed entrance to the drive, so it is easy to spot. Good communication prior to our stay and excellent location in a quiet, rural area outside Wimborne

Pleasant hotel. Room very hot and no fan. Bathroom door did not shut. Bathroom needed a deep clean around shower. Carpet very stained. Staff very helpful and nice. Should display somewhere that the property does not open until 3pm and where to drop off keys on departure
