Lovey old pub. Nice and clean.
A short walk away from Sudely Castle and Gifford's circus, which was the reason for our visit.
Would definitely stay again.

Lovely property and very comfortable rooms providing lots of little touches. It’s an old house so can get hot at the top but they do provide good fans.
Steeped in history and boasting 5 stars with a 90-acre estate, Ellenborough Park is nestled between the Cotswolds’ highest point and the gallops of Cheltenham Racecourse.

Winchcombe is a great base from which to explore the Cotswolds. It has all the services; places to stay, food shops, cafes, restaurants; within walking distance. Lovely walks around Sudeley Castle, up to Hill Barn, to Hailes Fruit Farm, to Bellas Knap and up on Cleeve Hill.
You can take the steam train to Broadway or to Cheltenham from Winchcombe too. With a car you can visit Stanway, Ford, Gretton, Guiting Power and other villages with lovely pubs.

Classic Cotswolds Village.
Lots to see. You need to make a week of your visit to do the area justice.
Ate at three separate establishments of an evening including a Chippy and two Pubs.
Easyish to get to , but take care if without personal transport. Bus services can be infrequent and also very few on Sundays/ Public Holidays.
Heritage Railway (Gloucester and Warwickshire Railway) runs from Racecourse Station in Cheltenham, to Broadway calling at Winchcombe.

Pokey little town with narrow streets and antique shops.
Pokey little town with narrow streets and antique shops. Restricted parking so you can't stay long. As a market town for the surrounding area it looks great and I'm sure locals enjoy it. Many places to eat in the evening so perhaps this is where to come if you're living or holidaying in a cottage nearby.
