There was a excellent full English breakfast with local bacon and sausage. The room had a very handy fridge which was remarkably quiet and some fresh milk was kindly provided. A big bonus was the microwave oven in the breakfast room which guests could use up to 8pm - as it turned out Workington was not over-endowed with places to eat out in the evening.

Workington was better than expected Plenty of shops and parking Flowers were blooming and very colourful on a lot of the streets It was a good place for us to stay as a base, we travelled around the coast line up to Gretna where a wedding was going on.
We went around the Lake district and found St Bees a lovely place to watch surfers , swimming and peddle boarding and lots of children enjoying the pools after the sea had gone out
I am of the older generation so like to people watch very relaxing

It's one of the start points for the C2C cycle or walk routes - the others are at Whitehaven or St Bees. Both those are much nicer than Workington.
I ate in the Henry Bessemer - a Wetherspoon's pub, which was good value WYSIWYG. Cheaper there than the awful hotel Waverley by several quid - and drinks much better value too.

A busy little town near the Solway Coast.
A busy little town near the Solway Coast. Tricky one way system until you become used to it. The town has a number of takeaway establishments but would benefit from more eateries. A good leisure centre and nice walks in this area.

Easy access to the lake district fells and the west coast.
Easy access to the lake district fells and the west coast. Close to the fantastic market town of Cockermouth. Plenty choice of amazing restaurants and independent shops. Transport is very good for those who don't drive with buses into Keswick, Ambleside and Winderemere.
workington is not a big tourist destination but the hotel is handily situated on a main road near the town centre and is easily found. Staff were friendly and we had a couple of drinks in the hotel's cost bar with the equally friendly regulars. We originally intended to stay in Keswick but found it impossible to get accommodation at the time of our visit. Workington is only about 20mins drive away and proved to be a money saving alternative. Would recommend it.
We were very impressed with the service and had a great stay. We were a bit disappointed with our first room and asked to upgrade to a room in the associated hotel, Washington Central, and this request was granted. As we were on our honeymoon, the front desk even offered us a huge discount on the upgrade to make our stay more special - it was an above and beyond gesture that we appreciated so much. Great service and nice amenities (pool, sauna, hot tub).
It is only 28 minutes from Keswick so it is a great choice for a budget vacation in Lake District. I had Room 1 which was on the ground floor close to the entrance (but further from bathroom). Spacious, neat room. Host says bring own toiletries but all you need is shower gel, the rest including towels and toilet paper was available. Location in Workington town is good, quiet, always had parking.
Room is good value with all the expected facilities. Really nice bonus that for £10 extra you can use the facilities for the hotel across the road, including sauna, large swimming pool, jacuzzi and gym.
Breakfast was good, fairly priced and well worth it. Location is right in the town if you want to go to any bars or restaurants.
The location was good and the breakfast was to die for(exceptional). The hostess Sue was at the door ready to greet us which was lovely. Beautiful accommodation and surrounding gardens. I would definitely recommend these cottages and I would also stay there again when visiting Workington. Thank you Sue.
Stayed here to attend family occassion in area nearby.... staff and facilities inside hotel were great for purpose of trip. Unfortunately on this occassion spent little time in hotel or able to make full use of facilities.
Corner room, good windows, plenty of fresh air
Great location for exploring the north west coast and the lakes.
Lots of bus routes head north, south or east towards the lakes. The coastal railway allied us to visit Gretna to the north. We also went to Whitehaven and St Bees.
Even took in a football game at Workington.
An excellent location in the town centre closer to most facilities / restaurants. Di and Rob are excellent hosts. A high quality cooked breakfast. Room was very clean with high quality linen and comfy bed. I would love to come back. A value for money.
Lovely little cottage in a really nice quiet location of Workington. Super comfortable bed with nice soft bedding. Really clean. Everything you need for home to home environment. The little touches made it extra special. Will definitely stay again.
The room was excellent. Clean, comfy and quiet. It was better than we expected. We spent lovely time there. I can not find any weakness of the Hotel. Brilliant staff, great place and amazing room :)
Friendly , Clean and the staff pay so much attention to detail. I couldn’t fault this hotel at all . OK , some may say it’s dated but I disagree , we had a great stay
