Love York, we walked the walls (4.5km), visited the Minster (at £16 each this was expensive for what it was), had amazing food at Cut and Craft, a nice pub lunch and cocktails at 1331, enjoyed drinks at the Botanist, we also visited the Dungeon’s on the Saturday night for the 18+ tour which was entertaining. Even on a cold January weekend the Shambles was heaving so would recommend getting up and out before the crowds start gathering Breakfast at lucky days was really good too The only thing we struggled to find was some decent live music but we did happen upon a singer in the Botanist on the Saturday night who was good
We enjoyed eating out and Divine was an excellent place to eat there were many other places which catered for different taste buds, the small coffee shops meant you could enjoy tea and scones , there were plenty of things to see and do localy.
Really loved walking around the old city and experiencing the markets. The Clifford Tower was extremely enlightening and educational about the area, as well as providing excellent views of the city. The Jorvick centre is an absolute must
York is probably best visited by train and public transport as the road network around it is best designed for medieval times. It's a delightfully compact place so easy to explore on foot and has a high level of pubs and churches. There are many museums which are great for short visits (90 minutes or so if you like reading the boards) as well as places such as the Minster which you could easily spend a whole day exploring. You can waste time and money in the shops if you want as there's an eclectic mix ranging from your high street staples through to artisan crafts and the occasional tat. On the beer front it's amazing, whether you choose to go to Brew York and its tap room or wander from pub to pub to sample ales from across the county. Whether you are stopping by for an hour or two, planning a shopping trip or relishing a longer period soaking up the ambience, York has something to offer.
A great city! Fantastic historical sites - the Minster, Castle Museum, Jorvik, Railway Museum, Clifford’s Tower and more. A variety of entertainment venues for young and old. Shop till you drop in a variety of chain and independent stores. Great cafés, pubs, bars and restaurants. This time around we ate at Ambiente Tapas, Arras and of course the famous Betty’s. We love York!
We have visited York on numerous occasions, it never disappoints! We love the Shambles, the quirky shops, excellent shopping facilities. York Minster is beautiful. We had a lovely meal at Lucia's on Swinegate, and a Vegan feast at Döner Summer on Gillygate.
York
The breakfast was fantastic, the location was lovely & quiet. The walk in to the city centre is 10-15 minutes at the most, again on quiet scenic roads. The staff were very helpful & extremely polite. The room was lovely & spacious as was the bathroom. I always stay in hotels when I go away but Ascot House has turned me onto using B&B’s from now on. I shall definitely be back here the next time I am in York.
Lovely hotel very close to the gates of old York. The staff is exceptional, very kind and helpful. They serve good breakfast and they have a restaurant, and beer garden where they serve pizza. We enjoyed pizza in the beer garden when we arrived and it was very good. We had a family room which was good size and quite comfortable. Good shower and beds. We would stay here again.
After 28 days of traveling and staying in a wide range of places The Dean Court in York was wonderful! It was about 37 degrees and we had a room with air conditioning they showed us around the hotel and brought ice and water to the room. Just those small gestures and I felt pampered! My bed was wonderfully comfortable.
The room had a river view and was very quiet at night. The facilities in the room were excellent. and very comfortable. All the covid safety measures were in place.. The staff were pleasant and helpful. It was excellent location for exploring York. I would have no hesitation in staying in this hotel again
Two night stay for my Husbands's birthday. Great location, spacious clean room, delicious food, all good! One more thing to add, the staff are an asset to the hotel, welcoming, knowledgeable and friendly. The concierge team were wonderful. I would highly recommend staying here for a break in York.
Ample parking although chargeable. Great city centre hotel for races with mates and then a few drinks and tea out in York. City centre ish location (literally just outside city centre easy walking distance) smart bar and reception area. V quick easy check in nice staff. Comfy clean spacious room.
It's a great location for visiting York which we knew as we have stayed there before. The room was a good size and resonably comfortable. We were at the back of the hotel overlooking the car park, so at least it was quiet. The staff were very helpful, we didn't try the breakfast.
lovely hotel with friendly staff. Its a perfect location in York close to everything with parking if required both public opposite or private secured in hotel. Food and drinks available 24/7 at reasonable cost. we’ve stayed three times, and would always be our first choice.
The rooms we booked were lovely, everything as described. The location excellent. Car park directly behind the hotel which was reasonably priced for City Centre parking. Hotel one minute walk to the river and just a five minute walk into the centre of York along the river.
Property is in the centre of York a 10 minute walk from the train station. Very clean and owners instructions to access the property were spot on. Great for all the city centre tourist attractions. Better value than a York City Centre hotel.
I can highly recommend the hotel. It was a 5 minute walk from the York Minster-York Chocolate Story-Shambles and all the sites of old York. the staff were impeccable and so fun. also when you arrive there is a small Prosecco and bottled water.
