Such a beautiful little seaside village that comes to life at night. Could have stayed longer and enjoyed the views, vibes and people. Also we found the pricing cheaper for food and drinks. I must stop

The room was clean and relatively new looking.
The room was clean and relatively new looking. There is no wifi or tv in room. They have wifi at the bar and should be able to get it to rooms with routers but have not bothered. The bed was a disaster, it was hardest bed I have ever tried to sleep on. My wife and I both hardly slept and had sore back in the morning. We have been travelling for over 5 weeks had no problem with any other beds.

There is a great vibe at Matala that differs from the rest of Creta. The hippie feel is true. We caught live music the night we were there and it was the best moment.
This along with the red beach - strongly recommend.

Matala is a tourist hot spot.
Matala is a tourist hot spot. So a lot of restaurants there, lot of tourist shops with souvenirs and a lot of people. The beach itself is not that big, but it was nice though. I mean it really depends on what you are looking for. I am more fond of less crowded and less touristy places, so perhaps next time I would look for something more matching my preferences. On the other hand there is nothing wrong about Matala at all. All the people there are very friendly. Really it depends on what you prefer...

Matala is a quiet little town with not a lot of traffic, music or noise. You come here to relax. If you like naturist beaching this place is definitely for you (Red beach and Komos beach).
Moreover, Matala can be a good base for visiting the area (you have to rent a car or a bike).

The beach in matala, the red beach and the caves of matala are a must see. When you are in matala I would recommend the Restaurants Georges Yard, Plaka and Hakuna matata.
Gorgeous new hostel minutes from the beach but with a pool to hang out at if its windy. Comfy beds w curtains on each for privacy and we had our own bathroom and balcony in the dorm. Well stocked big kitchen and great common space to hang made for meeting new people. Super friendly staff had all the great tips for making my stay in Matala fantastic. Best hostel I’ve stayed at in Crete!
A beautiful property very close to the beach. They have put many loving touches into this place and you can feel the difference. The rooms are spacious and clean, very minimalist interior but high quality. Our room had a beautiful patio overlooking the famous Matala caves. The front garden where breakfast is served is a beautiful place to spend the morning.
Good budget option, 10 min walk to the beach and restaurants. All clean and quiet surrounding. Ok bathroom. Very good, strong wifi. Pictures give a bit more modern look than reality but stlli all is nice and good. Very big terrace. Flexible check-in. Parking by the house. Some tableware and kettle to prepare small breakfast.
The hostel was great, quite big with a lot of young people around. Staff is very friendly and always helpful. Can’t even describe the beauty of Matala and the beaches around there. We used Matala Hostel as a base to explore southern Crete and we can’t wait to go back! <333

Breakfast was very good and pretty substantial. Host Stelio was over welcoming and helpful. It was a sort walk into Matala, with its lovely beach and many restaurants, including Elena's where we had lovely seafood overlooking the sea.
The location of the hotel is amazing because it is very close to the beach, restaurants and small supermarkets. But it is still in a quiet little street. The cleaning Personal is super friendly and the hotel was very clean in general.
located just outside Matala but not so far as to make you think about walking to any of restaurants etc it provided a quiet location without being remote from amenities, beach etc.. Pool and hotel always very clean.
Nice hotel, large family room that had plenty of room for our family of 4. Nice pool and good breakfast included. Lots of parking. Not far from Matala Beach, about 15 minutes to walk down. Staff were very pleasant.
