Quiet spot out at the end of a pier, surrounded by water
It was early in the season so probably quieter than middle of summer

The town is super cute and versatile.
The town is super cute and versatile. There are restaurants, taverns and coffee shops everywhere, shops as well. The beach is near, there are many activities and sites to see and 20-minute ride from the centre, there are also amazing hiking places and a lot of museums.

A historic and highly symbolic town associated with the Greek uprising against the Ottoman Empire in the early 19th c.
Strongly recommend a visit to the garden of heroes where it is moving for a Greek to see how many people from European nations and beyond came to help the cause of the Greek revolution. Would also recommend a visit to the lagoons and a taste of the locally produced avgotaraho (bottarga).

Messolonghi is an old town with a tragic chapter in the historic struggle between the Greeks and the Ottoman Empire. It is located in a unique salt marsh area surrounded by vast shallow bays that are home to a great diversity of marine and bird life, not to mention rich, irrigated agricultural terrain. Messolonghi is well off the beaten tourist track of glitzy beach front Greece, but has a quiet charm and unique culture of its own.
Great stay at Xrysa's family house. The garden is beautiful and the apartment is well equipped and cozy. Feels entirely like a home stay rather than a hotel. The owner was there to greet us even though we booked late in the evening for the same night. Offers great value and good access to stores for needed supplies is only a short walk away. To see the sites of Mesolongi you still need a car as the location is not very central.
We had a small comfortable room on the first floor without balcony.
The reception lady was really kind. The place seems really safe with the automatic gate that only guests or reception can open.
There is almost nothing near the hotel.
Very clean, comfortable and well equipped apartment in the center of Mesolongion, not far from many restaurants and bars. Check-in was easy and worked smoothly and the host was very friendly and helpful in providing local information.
I just did't find the address!? It was written on booking.com in Greek and my GPS didn't recognize it. After half an hour of looking for it we went farther to Nafpaktos for a hotel and paid again for that night.
Nikos is the kindest and most helpful host I have had in a long bike journey all across Europe. I think his guesthouse is the best hotel in the entire continent. Efcharistó!
