This is home for us so I cannot give an unbiased review.
This is home for us so I cannot give an unbiased review. Definitely a need for improvement in cleanliness especially in open air markets. Private businesses are improving efficiency, government facilities need to step up especially in anticipation of increasing client/opportunities. People are still friendly mostly. Rental cars available if you have the courage to drive.

My last visit to GT was in 1984.
My last visit to GT was in 1984. So far I love it & what i have seen lots of improvement. The streets are so conjested with cars, some traffic lights on the streets would be nice. The van drivers are driving too fast on the road this is the so many people lives are loss. I was very disappointed to see such a mess at the Sea Walls with the garbage, they need to have garbage containers along there, employ people to clean up the mess instead of leaving it there, it takes away the beauty of our beautiful Guyana.

I like the variety of foods available until late evening. Good shopping for local arts and craft. The traffic is hectic during the day with congestion. It is better to sight see in the afternoon when it is cooler.

Georgetown is a beautiful and colourfull city, you have to have in mind always that the security level is pretty low, so be aware and take care. If you can travel in groups and don't go out at night alone. The people, in general, are nice and forthcoming, but sadly enough for most very poor. Don't flash any items of value. If you get into a taxi my best advice is to hang on and buckle up - that traffic is indeed entertaining if you like rollercoasters and such.

A shabby, run down place of open, stinking drains and the constant need to watch who's approaching you or coming up from behind.
Locals are very friendly and helpful and are often most upset that a minority of meth heads etc have damaged the country's reputation.
Perfect Boutique / Heritage Hotel. I would recommend CARA Lodge with 100%. Location is perfect; I could walk to all sights from the hotel. In case you need a taxi its easy to order at the reception. You just need taxi in case you need to go airport or nighttime (highly recommended not to walk in Georgetown by night). I loves this place an dwill be back in this Hotel in case I visit Georgetown again. Restaurant in Hotel offers great trinidad food, I loved the curry (and the beer :-) )
"English" breakfast has great local options, well worth it if it's not included with your room. Great view from the rooftop bar and even though it is for guests only, the manager was kind enough to open it up to members of my party that did not stay at the hotel. Most staff are friendly and personable. Credit cards are accepted just fine despite the fine print on booking.com about bank transfers, that's just an option and not required.
This hotel has a great location, with the "sea wall" (a nice area with bars on the coast line) within a short walking distance.
Staff was nice and really helpful. They provided waters bottles, which was much appreciated. Once we had a problem with our room and they quickly provided a solution.
Rooms are clean, spacious and confortable. We had two separated queen beds, which was nice since we traveled among friends.
the receptionist make us feel very welcome. this was my first visit to Guyana so i did ask a lot of questions and staff were very helpfull and had the knowlegde about their hotel and the city. I frequently made use of the taxi service which went through the reception each time and I must admit it went everytime smooth and the taxis were on time every time too.
The room is very comfy, very clean. There is a common area to read a book or work on lap top. There's also a spa center inside the building that you can make use of. We liked the little shared kitchen where we could use the fridge with free available water. The staff is extremely helpful, always there for us whatever we needed.
The property is modern as a new construction the rooftop has plenty space to do different activities like barbecue, regular cooking, meeting with friends, playing domino or just enjoy the view.
The apartment very clean, modern, strong internet conexión, the floor and kitchen. The staff make you feel welcome, very helpful.
The owner is very nice person.
I arrived at this inn 4:00am, because my flight arrived at the airport 2:30am.
Then, the owner waited for me in front of the inn at 4:00am.
I was very impressed.
This is one of the most reasonable accommodations in Georgetown.
Highly recommended inn for single traveler.
What was supposed to be an overnight stay turned into a 4 night stay. While the circumstances were unfortunate . I was well taken care off and felt way ease at the hotel . Loretta and the rest of staff felt like family, catering to my shifting needs. Will definitely return !
The Appartment is located in one of the safest locations in Georgetown, right beside the Presidents office & Ministry of External Affairs, Nicky maintained and functional, I could cook my food ( vegetarian) and slept quite well in the bought ( no noice )
This is a friendly, professional venue that gives you an authentic Guyanese welcome. Local food, cooked well; staff that care and take pride in their hotel. Rooms are spotlessly clean. I particularly liked the family tree mural on 1st floor.
I did not like the towels situations, the flooding and the leaking
Conditions.I have traveled a lot and never experienced the hotels don’t have extra towels for their customers, it’s deplorable.
Always enjoy staying at this hotel when traveling to Guyana. Lots of amenities. In the US this hotel will be called a resort. Excellent gym, movie theater and Casino.
Very good hotel, the staff is very attentive; they are very attentive to solve any inconvenience, and I was very pleasantly surprised. Breakfast was very good also.
