The staff is amazing. Everyone was very friendly, enquiring about our stay and whether we were happy with everything (including activities outside the hotel).
The rooms and the rest of the facilities were kept spotless. We saw a number of improvements (refreshed rooms, an additional pool, and a new building which is yet to be finished). The hotel has managed to keep up with the homely vibe. The internet was very good (managed to work without IT-related interruptions). The food was of very good quality.

Great location for walking into town.
The staff were so lovely and helpful and called us one evening just to make sure we got back safely.

Staff
The staff was very unapologetic about all of my problems. They did nothing to help us. The security guards on the property are like bullies. They follow you around everywhere you go and "intimidate" you with their presence. At the time of check out (10:00 AM), there was no one working in reception. I couldn't even properly check out. I had to leave my keys with one of the rude guards. That is horrible customer service.
Facilities
The website lists a swimming pool as an included facility. But when we got there we were informed that to use the pool it is an extra charge. We were also told that we are not able to use personal coolers on the property, which was not listed on the website.
Cleanliness
There was trash and litter all over the beach and the hotel grounds. It was disgusting.
Comfort
Flat pillows, beds and mattresses so old that my back hurt, couldn't adjust the A/C and it was freezing cold all night. The beds had paper thin sheets that didn't keep us warm.
Value for Money
Honduras Shores Plantations is one of the most expensive hotels in all of Tela and it is one of the worst. There was no value for my money.
Location
Honduras Shores Plantations is located in a dangerous neighborhood of San Juan. One morning while we were driving out of the neighborhood and into town, we were stopped by the locals. They had made a "make shift" road block, forced our car to stop and made us pay a cash bribe before they would allow us to continue. I had my two daughters with me and this is unacceptable. I understand it is Honduras, but that was a dangerous situation for us to be in.
How comfy were the beds?
The beds were horrible. My back still hurts.
How did you find communicating with Honduras Shores Plantations (if applicable)?
None of the phone numbers listed online work. They are all disconnected. I had to go into reception and ask them in person to give me a working phone number.

We arrived in May during a bit of an off-season in tourism but all tours and shops were still open and accessible. We stayed for 4 nights as it was our first location of the trip and just wanted to get our bearings. I’d recommend 2/3 nights. Tela isn't insanely rich with different tourist thing you can do, however they have some very nice beaches. The overall vibe was pretty welcoming, we stayed mostly within a 15 block radius of our hotel (Maya Vista). Highly recommend staying there as well as going to eat just a few buildings down at The Family Food Truck. Again wonderful family vibe, good food and drinks are available and decent prices.

The view of the room the best in tela I've stayed in most of the main hotels and this room by far the best view and Sara the house keeping does a great job maintaining the place clean .. Karina did a great job into making the room available 👍
The hotel is ok, the cabins in the woods, away from the pool, are great. We found food that we liked, which is not always the case for all inclusive. The staff was very helpful. The beach access is great.
Everything was great, from start to finish, very private place and really flexible with accommodating your needs. I'm definitely going back and for sure recommending others to stay over at Hotel Bahia
Small hotel with friendly vibes. Included a typical breakfast which is quite simple but delicious. Good restaurant and really nice area for eating. The toucan is beautiful and they also have turtles.
Dr.Echeverria is a great host nice friendly nice parking security on site 24/7 minute walk to the beach and restaurant minute walk to the center of town and the market

Accommodations were, nice and conformable, it is quite and near the beach and the market as well.
Food was good and the facilities were well maintained.
