Brilliant place to learn to dive (61 dive shops), highly recommended Ocean Dive League very experienced, very supportive 5 stars definitely. Can do awesome dives, 2 shipwrecks, coral garden etc. If you love luxury over character I don’t think this is a place for you. Easy to do day trips and get a personal taxi driver. Food was good. Lots of fish and eggs! People extremely kind, helpful, accommodating. Not really a place to go clothes shopping. Definitely would go there again. I would suggest 2 nights 3 days max if you are not a diver. The group I was with just snorkeled and 3 days was ample. The Snorkling was amazing and free the best I have done in Bali without paying a fortune . The trip to Amed was a tour within itself seeing the different demographics of Bali , long but worth it. I would rather look at the mountains and villages from a car and take in scenery than sit in terminal, boat for 3 hours till snorkeling tour starts.DOMINICAustralia - 10Scored 10

Best is the snorkeling, right off Jemeluk black sand beach. IDR 50000 (AU$5) to hire snorkel gear for 24 hrs Lots of diving /fishing opps. Don't go there for the shopping. Less touristy than other Bali places. Also seemingly cheaper, ie from AU$35/night for aircon room on beach. Great walks and great views. Everywhere we ate was decent. Cheap scooter hire.

The fishermen go out early in the morning and come back during the morning with their boats, which is noisy, the departure at 4 o’clock we never heard and never woke up because of that. The food was very good. To get there from Sanur we arranged a transport by Amed Bali Adventure, which we can highly recommend, a transport organized by the hotel is way too expensive.

We were in the quieter part of Amed in Purwakerti, away from the hustle and bustle but still within walking distance to the beach, the convenience store, and eateries. Pak Komang and Ibu Puyu are great hosts. We had an issue with our car and he got it sorted. Nice breakfast. Our gluten-free dairy-free option was delicious Balinese fried rice with fresh fruits and hot tea.
