We had a nice time here .
The heritage centre is worth a visit. For 5 euro you get to go on a tour and learn lots of the history of Athenry in a fun and interesting way ,you get to wear costumes and you get to do archery and a maze. Such a lovely experience. There's also a castle and an Abbey to visit . Great playground for children.
The food in the restaurants and pubs was just gorgeous. The people were friendly and nice.
Definitely will return again.

Athenry was a wonderful little town to visit.
Athenry was a wonderful little town to visit. Great to get a feel for authentic, non-touristic Irish culture. The town boasts a castle, a friary ruin, an old stone gate, so many gems to visit! Then the nightlife was very fun. Great pubs and music made for one our favorite stops during our 10 day trip to Ireland
Wanted a spot near Shannon airport to make for an easy travel day (50 minutes by car). Rooms are small but lots of storage. Facility has a nice outdoor space for drinks or food that is private but there is smoking allowed there so you never know what you'll get. Their parking lot is also enclosed in that spot so easy to get to. There are not a lot of restaurants in Athenry and the food served here was really quite good and that's a top option for you. Breakfast was very good and included.
The staff went above and beyond to heal us with our every need. They were extremely prompt with their communications. The rooms were very comfortable and modern. We ate also at the pizzeria below the guestrooms - some of the best pizza ever!! Our family can't recommend this place highly enough!! And liked staying in Athenry instead of Galway - was nice to go into a pub and be the only tourists there. Great base for exploring the Cliffs of Mother and Aran Islands.
Pool and leisure, the bar, the food and size of room. Everything was very clean and organized and the room had everything that we might need (iron, hair dryer, laundry bag) and the hotel is located close enough to travel to
Galway. The Staff was excellent. Kids got a gift bag which contained a voucher for hot chocolate, a colouring sheet with crayons and a chocoalte. Very welcoming. There are vending machines in hallways.
Very comfortable beds and sitting room area, smart TV, apartment was very nicely decorated throughout, nice large shower and good kitchen area. Great location within Athenry with free parking and a lot of additional services eg restaurant, pizzeria, cafe all as part of the Lodge At the Old Barracks. We got breakfast one of the mornings from the Restaurant which was very tasty.
This hotel is a gem! Alacoque (the owner) is absolutely lovely. So friendly and chatty. She gave us great information about Athenry and we really enjoyed doing the heritage trail that she recommended. The cooked breakfast was fantastic! Love the outdoor dining area too. Highly recommend this hotel and Athenry is a lovely town full of history. Shouldn’t be missed.
We had a very warm welcome from the owner. The staff were terrific, very friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable, easy for us to explore Athenry, and take the train to Galway. Breakfast and dinner at the restaurant were excellent, and the chocolate marshmallow treat exceptional. Some special treats were left in the room for us to enjoy too, nice touch.
The Lodge at the barracks was a perfect location for our stay with very comfortable accommodations and included a great breakfast every morning.
We would definitely stay again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a wonderful stay in Athenry:)
Very welcoming, very clean and luminous, very supporting crew, private parking, the hotel also proposes a restaurant and a lovely pizzeria.
Would you come to Athenry, it is the best possible place to sleep and to eat !
One bedroom flat was just beautiful. Super comfortable pull out couch in the living room was perfect for our daughter. Place is absolutely spotless and very well appointed. Will stay here again if ever back in Athenry.
Loved this accomodation, beautiful hotel, massive room, great entertainment in hotel bar/ restaurant at night, beautiful breakfast
Best shower in Ireland👍👍
A beautiful hotel! So clean and fancy for an amazing price and very easy to get to. The staff are a credit to the hotel, you couldn’t meet nice people :)
