The Old School House, hotel in Ballyconneely

Offering a garden and garden view, The Old School House is located in Clifden, 3.5 km from Alcock & Brown Memorial and 20 km from Kylemore Abbey.

We only met Rita and Michael for a brief period, but whenever help was needed they were available. We were having issues to get the fire going, and Michael promptly came to help, even though it was a Saturday night. The cottage is comfortable and big enough for 4 people, The kitchen is well equipped if you need to cook, the cottage can be cold, but the heaters work well after some time. The cottage is beside a busy road, but, it was still quiet and possible to sleep without outside noise. It is possible to go to the village walking, around 15 minutes. I would come back and recommend a stay here for family and friends. Thanks Michael and Rita.

We had a lovely big room and the hosts were most welcoming. We enjoyed the walk to the cliffs and got to choose a very nice breakfast. The bed was very comfortable, always important.

Very nice area, remote and tranquil, perfect to disconnect from the urban hum. A variety of beaches with short distance. Also perfect for stargazing, It has one of the darkest, free of light pollution skies in Ireland, Bortle 2!

I loved the pace of life very calm & as roads are seriously narrow it slows you right down and gives you plenty of time to enjoy the views . The land is rough & raw with lots of inlets and coves & a coral beach , Clifden is close by and lots of art gallery’s coffee houses & lots of sit out areas

For me what makes Kilronan special was the location to Keogh's and it's superb seafood on your doorstep ! Also the house itself looked at on a beautiful lake and each room was full of light. Sands hotel and the coral beaches are very close , both prime spots to go in the area. Lastly the host really wants feedback and acts upon your suggestions so as to make it an even better house for the next guest .

Located right on the main road between Roundstone and Ballyconneely, this lovely cottage is a great base for exploring Connemara. The house is modern, clean and well maintained. We stayed in winter and it was warm, dry and cosy. It could easily accommodate larger families or groups. It’s a ten minute walk to the nearest town (Ballyconneely) but in a car everything is easily accessible.
