I was happy with the accommodation and the local pub(s).
I was happy with the accommodation and the local pub(s). However, please note that this is all in a small hamlet called Boolteens, which is about 3 miles from Castlemaine, so you don't need to visit the latter!

I noticed the host had dried out another family's coats for them (yes, it was raining!). She was very welcoming.
The B & B was all you would hope for, and to top it, the restaurant/bar next door was great for food and relaxing in. (And, there's another bar over the road for Sky sports if you want to bet on a horse!)
Castlemaine has a statue of The Wild Colonial Boy.

We visited Tralee a few times and we were delighted with the places we ate. We had a lovely meal in both La Scala and Yummy. We also went to Camp, Castlegregory and visited The Maharees. We found our way home through the Connor Pass. The views were breath taking.

This was the 1st night of our stay in Ireland.
This was the 1st night of our stay in Ireland. Willie can't be matched for his knowledge of Ireland and hilarious stories. He is the epitome of a gracious Irishman and host. Our stay at Castlemaine was a great experience. People everywhere we went in the area were very friendly and helpful. Nearby Cobn was colorful and interesting. Dinner in the Commodore Hotel bar was delicious. More places to visit than we could squeeze in with two days.

Castlemaine is only a very small village but it has a couple of pubs in the village and two more at only a short distance away - all have food available. There is petrol available just outside the village.
It is ideally situated for access to the Dingle Peninsula and the Ring of Kerry, yet just off the beaten track so you can feel relaxed coming back in the evening. It doesn't have big tourist pubs etc etc and is a quiet village.
If you are looking to relax after a busy day sightseeing it's perfect.
If you are looking for a busy centre with shops, touristy type stuff, music and entertainment until the early hours, you need to try Dingle.
food was nice portions good in the bar. met Liz the owner checking in she showed us too out room. lovely woman we had a drink with her later we had drinks our the back lovely smoking area and had great fun also out son too. she served b fast next day and it was lovely Liz even gave out son a little toy transformer after breakfast to take home he was delighted . we would definitely stay again what real Ireland is all about . Thanks Kevin Sarah AND Small Kevin Ryan ha ha.
A great base to explore the Dingle Peninsula, Killarney or Tralee. The breakfast is fab cooked by Tim who is an amazing host who goes the extra mile for his guests. He brought me a honey and lemon drink to help soothe a persistent cough. We were in the Mountain suite which has a separate sitting area with a TV and a wide selection of books. Tim had also provided a bottle of wine and some sparkling water in the fridge. I highly recommend a stay at Alderwood House.
The house, grounds and room were beautiful. The area was quiet, the bedroom and bathroom were spacious and clean. The host was a lovely lady that we chatted with a bit before checking out. There were 4 of us traveling and 3 out of the 4 of us had problems getting connected to wifi - 2 of us had European phones and 2 were UK phones.
Beautifully presented home in a quiet rural location with friendly, welcoming hosts. Everything was top class from the tasteful furnishings to the wonderful breakfasts cooked by our host. Conveniently close to Castlemaine with a range of options for meals and superbly located for exploring the Dingle Peninsula and the Ring of Kerry.
The location was great for exploring Kerry. Tim and Karen were excellent hosts, very helpful. The accomodation was great too, really nice having a sitting room as well as a bedroom, and lots of really nice touches. And I need to give a shout out to our 2 furry hosts who gave the friendliest welcome!
I stayed in Castlemaine House with my family in September 2021. Our hostess Myra was very welcoming and couldn't have been more helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the breakfasts were excellent. This guesthouse is a very good base for those touring Kerry by car.
quiet area to relax. perfect location to do Dingle Pass and Ring of Kerry. Hosts was very accommodating. made fresh brown bread which was left for us at check in. Made tarts fresh and again gave us a couple. Very accommodating! Would book again next time we are in Ireland!
Treated like you were staying at a 5-star! Staff very attentive, friendly and accomadating. Breakfast was abundant and fantastic. Dinner was great. Parking was on-site and free. I would stay at the Anvil again vs. anywhere I stayed traveling for 5 weeks around Ireland!
The location of the guest house was very pleasant. The rooms were large with a well equipped bathroom. The host greeted us for breakfast, they served a very pleasant Irish breakfast with several other options. We would certainly recommend Murray's Mountain View.
Wow! What an amazing stay! The location was perfect for exploring the Ring of Kerry or Dingle. Our host, Catriona, was delightful. And tons of little extras were included that made the house a home. The room is much larger than the pictures look.
The house is situated in an amazing position to visit Dingle and the Ring of Kerry. Catriona was really welcoming and gave us helpful advices. The room was really spacious and clean with an ensuite bathroom. Definitely spent a lovely time.
The Farmhouse has the best breakfast so delicious and prepared perfectly. Staying there was like visiting family, felt very comfortable . We enjoyed the beautiful walk to the local pubs. Looking forward to staying there again. Cheers!
Excellent place, spotless, very well equipped, comfortable , great location for exploring Killarney and the Ring of Kerry. Superb communication from hosts. Easy checkin and out. Looking forward to returning
A really comfortable house. Well equipped kitchen with washing machine and dryer. Private car parking/garden, ideal for evening BBQ! Great location for touring both Dingle Peninsula and Ring of Kerry.
Lovely place, beautiful surroundings. Room was clean and big. Hosts were very friendly. Location is fantastic. Would definitely come back and recommend to anyone who plans to visit Co. Kerry.
John welcomed us and showed us our room, accommodating. He suggested a great place for dinner and we had a great time in a pub that night. Parking was adequate, we didn't have breakfast.
Host was lovely and welcoming. While Castlemaine is a quiet town being so close to Dingle, Killarney and the Ring of Kerry is a big plus if you are travelling by car.
Nice comfortable house, all essentials provided. Great location for exploring Kerry. Loved the off street secure parking, lovely pub restaurant in walking distance.
