Loved the quaint little town and the shops, restaurants and pubs available to us. Also, the grocery store was very well stocked and the SPAR there had laundry facilities that we so badly needed to use.

There is so much to see. I'm a walker and we were able to access many great walks - mountain, sea and forest walks. We had a car to get to locations. Good location for exploring Connemara. Fabulous scenery. Plenty places to eat in the evenings.

A beautiful area in the National Park.

A beautiful area in the National Park. The little town centre was quite vibrant for such a remote area and lots of independent cafes and shops It was possible to do manageable walks (even for us oldies)

Cliftden was great with plenty of places to eat and drink.

Cliftden was great with plenty of places to eat and drink. There is a very well stocked supermarket in the town and the surroundings were very clean and well maintained. Getting a local taxi was a bit of a problem so we had to drive everywhere, which didn't allow us to have a drink in the town as our accommadation was about 3 miles outside the village.

Honestly I was so impressed by this place. Well proportioned and beautifully styled rooms, lovely common spaces, and ridiculously comfortable beds. Did not expect to have a stay as half as good as this while driving down the West coast, nevermind for as reasonable a price as it was. Room had extra pillows/towels already stocked if they were needed, and a Nespresso machine and well stocked box of teas/coffees. Clifden itself was a highlight of our road trip and the hotel is very well positioned to explore the town.

We loved everything about the property. It was clean, warm, so well equipped with lovely additional touches such as fresh bread and cake. It was a 5 minute walk to the beautiful village of Clifden. we stayed 3 nights in the apartment at Buttermilk Lodge as part of a2 week tour of Ireland. The rest of the time we stayed in hotels and honestly, the apartment was our favourite place of the holiday. ps a big thank you for the post that was waiting when we retuned home

Breakfast both mornings of our 2 night stay was lovely. Full Irish well cooked, plenty of tea and toast/coffee and cereals etc. Servers were friendly and polite and service was prompt. The hotel is excellently located in the town centre of Clifden and public car parking is available on the street outside and is free between 7pm and 9am. Rooms are basic but shower pressure was good.

I have been a guest at the Clifden Station House many times. There are so many positives - one can walk everywhere, parking is convenient, the breakfast buffet has a good array of choices, staff are kind. The interior decor includes a great collection of vintage travel posters. My room was available when I happened to arrive earlier than expected.

The location is outstanding, we had a beautiful outlook over the water. The b and b is easily accessible to the township of Clifden. The hostess Lidi is very charming and helpful. We took on so many of her recommendations for site seeing in areas less traveled. We enjoyed the breakfast with pancakes that were the best in Ireland.

Unbelievable experience to end our staycation in Ireland. This place is out of this world. Food is amazing and the atmosphere in the hotel is brilliant. Staff were super friendly and the owners couldn't have been nicer. Can't say enough good things about this place...oh and check out their own veg garden as well.

Buttermilk Lodge is larger than most B & Bs, but everything was clear and comfortable and the food was very good. It was less of a personal experience than most of our stays, but for those who desire to have an excellent place to stay nearby Clifden, then this is the place for you.
