Great city. Plenty of eateries and pubs. There was a Wetherspoons there which was great. I stayed in the River Lee hotel very nice location on the river itself. I was there for St Patricks day so it was very busy and we saw the parade.
Well place Hotel for the Airport a bit of a trek into Cork City. The Hotel staff were pleasant and helpful. My only slight moan would be the Shuttle Bus service not picking up the phone call from the airport phone. Lovely breakfast
It is not Dublin . One or two days are enough to cover all the sights. A visit to the Jameson distillery in Middleton - just 45 mins by train is a MUST visit. I was impressed with the Metropole Hotel - great breakfast , great bar, great staff, great room - real value for your money . St Patrick’s Street and the surrounding byelanes have great restaurants and bars !
The town centre is nice to visit and in the evening some pubs have live music. We ate in an Indian restaurant called 'Bombay Palace', which wasn't very nice. I'd recommend booking in advance if you are intending on eating as most restaurants were fully booked when we got to town. It was easy to get around cork, we walked everywhere. We went for a pint in Charlies Bar and there was live traditional music.
We visited Cork primarily to se a band, Sultans of Ping. First visit. Loved the city, easy to walk around. Plenty of good places to eat. People friendly. Also visited Cliffs of Moher, Kinsale and Cobh as part of the trip.
Cork makes for a great city break. The town centre is full of the usual shops alongside some local additions. The English Market is exceptional and the city is full of some wonderful pubs as one would expect of Ireland. There are many trips locally one can do the train is cheap but slow. The airport is close to the city so it won’t take long from arrival to enjoying your first pint of the black stuff. Check out the heritage pub brochure for some ideas of drinking and eating spots.
Cork
Great location for city exploring. The staff couldn't have been nicer. While the room was small, it was well laid out, and there were plenty of places to stow gear. The communal kitchen was large with plenty of refrigerator and cooking space. Good safety precautions for a place in the city centre, and I would not hesitate to stay there solo. Nice laundry facility. A public parking deck was a short walk away, and there was a great discount if you ask at the front desk to validate your ticket.
Loved the location as the bus station was just nearby. We could get buses to the airport and to Kinsale very easily. The city centre was not far as well. The supermarket is close by. The city views from our windows were lovely too. The staff were friendly and helpful. Loved the warm drink provided by the hotel. We did laundry service with the hotel and the service was very affordable and well done. It was a same day service too.
Great location in walking distance of very many excellent Cork city centre restaurants, shops and other amenities. Nice clean room in a historic location, close to a number of interesting tourist attraction (Cork Butter Museum, The Firkin Crane Dance Auditorium, Shandon Steeple and the Cathedral of St. Mary and St. Annes). Leisure centre with swimming pool, sauna and steam room was great.
Cork
The location was amazing. It is inside an original fort! Close to shops, bars and city centre. The house was very warm, clean and had everything we needed. Liz our contact person was amazing - friendly, helpful. The small stove in the front room was just a beautiful touch.
River Lee was our first stop in our two week journey in Ireland. we loved everything about the hotel. Helena from the front desk was super helpful and she ensured she did everything in her power to make us feel welcome. thank you Helena and everyone at River Lee.
Cork
The rooms are super nice - I have stayed at 3* hotels that were way worse. The place was clean, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Close to the city centre (~7min walk), university (~7min walk) & bus station (~20min walk).
The rooms were a nice size and the beds were comfortable. The hotel is in a nice area and only a few minutes from the city centre. Nicole in Suttons Bistro was an amazing waitress and did everything she could to improve our stay.
Excellent location, right at UCC, with good bus connections including to and from the Dublin airport bus, and an easy stroll to the city centre. Full bath in private bathroom. Clean. Many cafés, shops, and pubs nearby.
Location was fantastic, service was above expectation. Rooms were so comfortable and quiet for a city centre hotel. Very happy with the stay.
