Great vacation. We took the hop-on hop-off bus to get the history of the city. It was a 2 day pass. The second day we stopped in the Salthill area and walked the boardwalk and visited the museum. Both were great. In warmer weather the beach would be a great area to partake. Restaurants were great and the Latin Quarter offered a few Buskers (great voices). We ate at the Steak and Lobster Restaurant and The Front Door Restaurant. Both were great and catered to allergies.
Fabulous city with lots to do. Stayed in Salthill Hotel which is fabulously located walk out door of hotel to beach and walkway Lots of lovely places to eat, Italian /Chinese ect. We ate at hotel which was fablous Galway is so easy to get around park up your car for your stay and everything is in walking distance
Loved Galway and would love to come back for longer! Beauty spots are all at least an hour away so needed another day to take in a days tour! Pubs are very traditional and some have hidden beer gardens that are amazing and are worth a visit like The Pucan and O’Connells which is right by Eyre Square. I was travelling for a girlie weekend and we found the locals to be really friendly and helpful and we felt safe at all times !
The unfortunate thing about our stay was the weather, and of course there is nothing to be done about that. I think Galway would be a different city in the sunshine. We stayed three days in April, very cold and rainy except for one brilliant day. Galway is a busy town. Lots of people, shops, restaurants, and a huge amount of traffic. It's very walkable, especially in the centre of town near Eyre Square. We mostly stayed in that area for walking, dining, shopping etc. Lots to see- so many pubs and restaurants
I'm biased because I went to university in Galway in 1988 (American visiting student). It's an enchanting city that has buckets of charm and scenery. Great uni too! Great pubs too-glad to see King's Head, Quays and Rabbits still in business!
A returned citizen having previously spent lots of time in gqlway i was a little disappointed apon my return however galway city isn't the cause but the people visiting and some of the locals both old and new are the cause , galway city has always been a good night out but I found this time the attitude of people has changed dispite several pubs where spontaneous conversations start up there was a certain arrogance and fear of some people which changes the atmosphere but this may be a global thing and not resigned to galway city secondly the amount of homelessness both real and fake is quite disturbing and the large groups or what I would describe as gangs of refugees around eyre square could be quite intimidating for some considering the increase in murders and rapes in Ireland which is alarming for a small island nation , and I would advise caution to single ladies travelling alone . P.s to all the cafe owners of galway when the price of a coffee is twice what one could buy a jar of coffee for it leaves a bad taste in your mouth .
Through our 10 day stay in Ireland, we needed a convenient place to crash one night in Galway. The hotel is located along the park, near Latin Quarter and shopping and great food - perfect for what we needed in price, accommodation and convenience. Outdoor entertainment was abundant, colorful atmosphere. The hotel was very secure and the staff was super friendly and helpful. We were mainly exploring countrysides and doing day hikes, so it nice to be in the center of the hustle and bustle for one day.
Galway
Friendly staff, Michael centre manager was helpful with any question we had. Very central location and close to Galway city centre which was easily accessible by car or bus stop which was just outside the apartment complex. Briarhill shopping centre just down the road which was ideal for all your needs for self-catering apartment. Other shops like lidl and Iceland all located within a 5 minute walk.
Salthill, Galway
It is ideal for staying close to Salthill village and still close to Galway center… cozy and nice, comfortable bedrooms.. Siobhan is simply the best host.. it is an old hotel so you better know you won’t stay in a boutique /fashion place, but good enough for the price you paid…bathrooms need some refurbishment but still decent No doubt we will stay there when coming back to Galway
We stayed here for 2 nights and from the moment we got here we were greeted so nicely by staff. The place is out of the Galway city center but right in front of Hotel there is a bus to take you directly to city center, The rooms were very clean and nice. We had dinner 2X at the hotel and the food was really good. Great stay in Galway at the Flannery Hotel
We felt right at home during our stay at the Park Hotel. The location and staff were tremendous. A short walk to the city center filled with food, shopping, music and culture. The rooms was very comfortable and the location of the carpark so close to the hotel made us get settled quickly knowing our rental car was in a safe spot. Slainte! Kevin
great location, close to the city center and shops, bus stop by the hotel, very nice, friendly staff, restaurant on site, large room, very comfortable beds, clean sheets and towels, bathroom just renovated, nice view of the river, iron and ironing board in the room, many different lamps that will well enlighten the room,
Salthill, Galway
A beautiful boutique hotel with an interior that exceeded both our expectations! The staff were kind and accommodating, and the room ticked every box. What a beautiful location too - walking distance from both Salthill town and Galway city center. We would return in a heartbeat!
Galway
Super comfortable bedrooms with everything what we needed. The personal was unbelievable friendly and the breakfast one of the best I had in Ireland. The Location is close to the city center and it is possible to use the good public transport system. A station is near by.
We walked the 20 minutes to city center easy enough. A cab was under 10 euros when it rained. If you like a big breakfast this hotel delivers. Bar staff in the evening were very engaging.
