The Lily of the Lake
Overlooking the tranquil waters of Lough Leane, colourful Killarney is a top Irish tourist destination. The UNESCO-listed Killarney National Park surrounds Muckross House, a stately home sitting in large grounds with a traditional farm.
A tree-lined lane leads to Muckross Abbey, a former Franciscan monastery whose cloisters enclose a tall yew tree. Celtic crosses line the cemetery and beyond is the lake, at the centre of which is a tree-lined outcrop, home of the historic Ross Castle. This 15th-century stone fortress once housed the O’Donoghue clan, one of whom reportedly lives at the bottom of the lough.
More legends envelop the Ring of Kerry – a scenic drive starting from Killarney and supposedly the last place to spot a leprechaun. Gushing Torc waterfall is just one of its fantastic sights.
In Killarney itself, horse-drawn carts roam narrow streets whose Irish pubs offer great nightlife. Impressive St Mary’s Cathedral has a towering spire and somewhat dark interior. The local gaelic football team play at Fitzgerald Stadium, and more sports can be enjoyed at Killarney riding stables and the nearby golf and fishing club. There is also a popular racecourse.

There is so much to do in and around Killarney that your stay will not be long enough ! While some Hotels and Rental properties would seem to be somewhat expensive you can also find some which are really good value and of a good standard if you do the research !

We were very disappointed that the Killarney National Park...
We were very disappointed that the Killarney National Park visitor center and Ross Castle weren’t open and especially that there was no acknowledgement of that on their website. That was our main reason to visit Killarney. Understandable about due to weather, but the visitor center was due to renovations.

Place is nice and quiet. Holiday feeling as soon as we arrived. Host was excellent. Rooms- spotless. Kitchen- all you need for self catering is there. Town is nearby. Torc Waterfall and Mucross House are nearby. Highly recommend the place 👌👌AAnonymous - 8.0Scored 8.0

We had a great time. Went to a Fureys concert, did the Ring of Kerry, visited the Tralee museum, had a super Indian meal, the Guinness was super. It's my 8th visit to Killarney. I'm finding the prices are getting much higher in town.

Good location too wasn’t noisy whatsoever compared to so some hotels that are right in the town centre, 5 minute taxi in and out of Killarney was grand! Free parking outside the hotel too so could leave the car there while you venture off. Would definitely recommend this place and would no doubt book it again!

Food was very tasty, hot and fresh for breakfast and very reasonable rate for our stay. Located 5 mins from town centre so perfect location. Will be staying again.

The Brehon staff quickly acquired a wheel chair that we were given free use of for several days. His ability to walk has returned for the present and we were very lucky to have such accommodating staff and such a magnificent hotel. The spa was absolutely magnificent and the food and service at the bar was stellar.

The kitchen is exceptionally well equipped and everything you would expect in a property was there. It has a lovely back yard and furniture. Beds were comfortable and plenty of towels available. Well situated, being about 5mins from the town centre. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to family and friends.
