I called the day previous to our stay explaining we were travelling from Mayo to the Bruce Springsteen Concert in Kilkenny and asked if we could drop our luggage on the way . The Receptionist was so nice and said that she would try to get us an early check in . We arrived at approximately 11.45 and the room was prepared and waiting for us . I think this was so exceptional and more than we had expected . This kindness makes your Hotel stand out and was very much appreciated . All of the staff we encountered were pleasant and helpful so a wonderful experience all told.

Stayed 2 nights.
Lovely family room, very spacious.
Hadn't breakfast booked but was no problem booking in morning. The breakfast was absolutely beautiful. Huge selection and all piping hot.
The staff couldn't have been more helpful in all parts of the hotel from the reception to the house keeping.
Will definitely go back when down that side of the country!!!

Loved our stay in Ard na Greine. Sinead was a fantastic host, so friendly & helpful when we arrived. The accommodation itself was spacious and beautifully furnished. It was also spotlessly clean, very homely and cozy. Sinead even left milk, coffee, jams, fruit and snacks for us. A wonderful place to stay!

It was one of the best stays I've had, in and out of Ireland. On top of the amazingly beautiful mansion, with its perfect decoration to make us feel at home, the wonderful food, and the luxurious rooms, Hannah is a great host. I've felt welcome from entering the building. Even when we were a few hours early for check-in, we got some tea to enjoy in the library room.
It all was just lovely and so greatly enjoyable. I'll try to return in the future!

Wanted to eat in proper Irish pub with live music as we have done at several other locations. Loads of bars, none serving food. Plenty of takeaways but didn’t want to sit on a bench to eat. Stayed at end of holiday so wanted to take home some local produce, cheese, bread, cakes but just one supermarket selling same as UK. Handy stopping off point between Killarney and Dublin but little else going for it

The town is not what we expected!
The town is not what we expected! There are so many pubs and restaurants who do both sit down and take away meals. Lots of live music coming from several pubs walking up and down the town. Very nice place! Only 50 minutes from the Red Cow so we were able to get the Luas into Dublin. Although we drove ourselves, we saw lots of taxis so I'd imagine it's very easy to get around.

I reviewed Harry Potter Themed guest house, in the house room 4. The response I received was appalling to say the least. To say I should have booked the Hilton because I mentioned we had to collect our key from a table, with no one to give us bath towels that were not supplied in the bathroom and that the shower was dirty and not cleaned since last person used it and foul smell in the bathroom. Also no fire escape plan and dangerous exposed wires for the lighted cotton wool over the bed is childish and insulting. I am not posh in any way. Just expect a clean safe room. This is not a response anyone should expect from any accommodation.

Portlaoise is well located in the midlands of Ireland about 1 hour S East of Dublin. There are many historical, cultural and scenic locations in close proximity and it is a great stop over if travelling further south to Cork Kerry and further afield- - but dont just stop over spend a few days exploring the area of Laois - The Slieve Bloom mountains, The Rock of Dunamaise, several golf courses, fishing, cycling, the round tower of Timahoe, Stradbally steam museum and a host of other places too!!
The town is just off junction 16 & 17 of the M7 motorway and has great bus and train service too. There are a variety of hotels & b&B available with urban and rural locations to suit your budget.
Check it out! : )
Everything about the hotel was fab, we arrived to the genuinely welcoming smile of front receptionist Nina, an absolute pleasure to deal with, helpful informative and just lovely.
The room was great, we had breakfast delivered and it was scrumptious.
On leaving we met Jonathan, again a fantastic representative funny and extremely helpful.
We'll be visiting again thats for sure!!
The breakfast was fantastic...the best we had in our 9-day stay in Ireland. The location was convenient to the train station and close to town where all the shops and restaurants were. The inn was quaint. Be aware that check-in time is 5. We were kindly accommodated for our early arrival. (If you arrive early you might not be able to get in at all until check-in time.)
It is an almost 200 years old building so it has a special atmosphere what i liked. The host of the hotel is very nice person. Also the location of the property is very good, because it is close to main street with small shops and pubs and it is very close to rail station, what is very comfortable if you come to Portlaoise by train.
Was going to put 'cheap and cheerful' but that would be doing it a disservice. It's very conveniently located, just off the motorway outside Portlaoise but much higher standard than your bog standard Travelodge hotels. Friendly staff and large rooms. Good quality food in the restaurant and plenty of cheaper eats right next door too.
When first checking in I was presented with the breakfast menu for the following days. It had a variety of options but as I was mostly using public transport I stuck eating cereal. It is also perfectly situated halfway between the train station and the main street, with a multi-story car park and cinema across the street.
This was our first time staying at the Iveigh House Hotel, Portlaoise, from the arrival to our check out time everything was excellent. The personal touches, greeting upon arrival, early check requested, a location with tons of character, centrally located and a breakfast which was superb, well done !
rooms were side by side as requested, a nice double bed and one single, with hairdryer, ironing board, tea coffee facilities provided. nice size room. Drinks in the bar served promptly with nice staff. leisure centre is OK, small enough pool. hotel was quiet with good sound proofing windows.
Pleasant stay, owner was v. Nice. Room could have done with a tv that had free to air channels, as only has now tv, which needed to be paid for in order to watch. (Not great to be fair).
"Welcome" note only had a list of charges for breaking the rules.
Room clean and warm.
Very well situated in the middle of town, super friendly staff, lovely spacious room, room and bathroom were spotless. Breakfast was lovely.
I think Portlaoise (abd Laois in general) is not enough advertized by Tourism Ireland but this lovely town has stolen my heart!
The hotel staff made our stay extremely pleasant. Special mention to Austin, Noel and Alan in the restaurant/bar and to Anne Marie on reception. Hotel is very clean and the breakfast is excellent. Gym and Spa were fantastic facilities to avail of.
staff and food there are fabulous. was there for a wedding staff were brilliant with the whole event. anyone looking for a venue for wedding Killeshin Hotel is definitely worth a look. I got an early check in so could get ready in hotel
Lovely hotel, staff were great, nothing was a problem. Had kids with PlayStation with me but they couldn’t connect to the WiFi so lovely chap called Sean (assistant manager) came up & sorted it all out for us.
Excellent price, spacious room, massive bar meals, free parking at hotel's leisure centre (if you ask at reception) . Very good breakfast. Complimentary bottle of wine and chocolates in room - a lovely touch.
Lunch at bar was great. Supper at Kelly’s was good food. Servers could have been more attentive, but it was later in evening and they were tired, I guess. Parking garage was best we ever saw in Ireland.
It's the type of hotel that does exactly what it says on the tin. Food was delicious, accommodated our needs and location is very close to main routes to north or south.
