It was situated away from the crowds in a good part of Cherai beach . We were offered very good hospitality by the staff on site . Very clean and comfy place . Has a good pool which is kept clean .
The breakfast was the only meal made in the property and was sumptuous and adequate .

Vala House is located at the very end of Cherai Beach, a quiet and serene location, perfect to unwind. We stayed there for 7 nights and felt very welcome throughout our stay. The room was tidy and clean, with a beautiful view on the backwater pond and the sunrise. The staff were exceptionally caring and forthcoming: Lalu took care of our laundry and even got our torn clothes fixed at the tailor, Vishnu organised a trip to Allepey for us. And above all the breakfast was delicious with classic home cooked Kerala meals and fresh fruit and eggs. Cherai beach is a stroll away and a small beach can be reached within minutes. Can highly recommend a stay at Vala House if you’re looking for a quiet and beautiful getaway in a non touristic part of Cherai.

What I liked most was the behaviour and attitude of the entire staff. The breakfast was good, though the food menu could be improved.

From the hotel to the beach was .60p which was cheap it’s a far superior beach than the one at fort kochi that beach was dirty and rubbish compared to cherai beach . The beach wasn’t crowded except wkends but it was full of colour from the ladies saris . Beautiful it was . It’s a long beach and lovely warm sea plenty of places to just sit and read or just tan . The locals if you’re friendly just want to have a picture taken with you they are so friendly . I wish I had stayed here instead of fort kochi . Go to lilliput restaurant it’s amazing . And if your lucky like me you will see dolphins , truly amazing that was

Cherai Beach is a great place for a wind down after the massive hassle of obtaining visa and long flight. Food and drink very inexpensive but do not consume alcohol with your meal as it comes in disguise and may cost more than your food bill!! You will struggle to get a good cup of coffee so take your own brand with you. We recommend Waves Restaurant and there is a hotel (the only one) in Cherai Junction. Fab and exciting public bus ride to Vypen from Cherai Junction then 12 rupees (14p) there and back on the ferry over to Fort Cochin....excellent cheap as chips day out. Auto tuktuks are great from Cherai beach to Cherai Junction.

Not really worth a visit.
Not really worth a visit. Neither the beach nor the sea is particularly clean and the beach is pretty narrow. This may be a result of recent storm damage. It's a local resort so not appropriate to wear swimwear. We enjoyed watching families up from the city playing on the small stretch near Cherai Beach Junction but otherwise it's not a particularly attractive or interesting beach.

The beach is very long and really nice to take a walk.
The beach is very long and really nice to take a walk. I really enjoyed it. If you are looking for a beach with beach bars etc, then that’s not it. The beach is limited by huge stones which are Thread to prevent the high waves from flooding the street beyond. But it offers some spectacular views. Not many foreign tourists in April which is not a problem but just in case you expect to find other backpackers, there aren’t any… overall it was really worth visiting this beach
Mathai and his team are very friendly. You feel like being part of the family. I enjoyed a very good and professional Veda Ayurvedic treatment which was wonderful. They had good ideas for things to do,places to go to eat etc.. In addition' they know a good driver who is great to do daytrips. I had the perfect stay for the beginning of my trip in Kerala with the helpful and friendly team at the Sea Star Beach Home. Thanky you- you made my days at at Cherai Beach just perfect😌
Very nice place right by a quite beach. The family that run the place are so lovely, I even got invited to one of the members wedding. Perfect room with ac. Very clean and amazing breakfast. Also wish we had tried the fish dinner sooner as it was amazing and would have had it more! Very helpful and kind owners and a good outside area. Cherai beach town is also great with some restaurants and really friendly people everywhere. Would highly recommend this place.
They were extremely accommodating and allowed us to check in early at like 10am. We got to hotel super early and I didn’t wanna wait. So this was a big plus. The service was exceptional as well. The staff at this property are all great! They all go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable.
Overall, I had a great experience with them. The room was wonderful, clean, spacious and perfect to celebrate a birthday weekend.
Location is good. Near the Beach
Stayed in one of the rooms upstairs... Happy about everything... the location, ambience, facilities, food and above all the hospitality... Indeed beyond our expectations... As the church was nearby, we could attend the morning Mass also. The Munambam beach is hardly 2km... and is safe and clean. We all enjoyed a lot... Traveling with my little son who is just 10 months, I was feeling quite safe and comfortable. Happy to recommend this place...
What a wonderful "find." The GM - Antony, has a knack for hiring a most sincere & efficient staff. Everyone was "super nice" & friendly. Great food -service w/a smile. Traditional Kerala cuisine - complementary breakfast w/many choices. Fresh fruit & U may order eggs & toast & there's a small buffet w/South Indian "delights". Ocean front or Garden views.
The homestay family is awesome, friendly and helpful. We felt like part of it. They have lots of useful tips for trips and answers to daily life in India. The garden with a swing, shade and animals is a joy. It is the perfect mixture between beach life and relaxing in a beautiful surrounding. We would always come again.
Thanks for everything, Sudeesh.
Cherai beach palace ambience was great,we booked seaview rooms its really fullfilled my expectations, also near by beach only like just 2min walkable distance.fooding in roof top waaaoo awesome experience. Very nice homestay !
Very friendly & helpful family & with a beautiful room upstairs of their home. It is an independent room with a terrace. The room is new & have all the comodity with a good bathroom. Very good & very happy with. The food ( dinner & breakfast) was very good. Lovely stay, home near the quiet beach.
We had a lovely time at the Cherai beach villa. The location is perfect, for both sunrise and sunset, and the beach is beautiful (with the added benefit of not being crowded!).
Unni is extremely helpful and responsive. And we all really liked Chechi who prepared a wonderful breakfast for us every day.
The house was right beside the beach and it was a quieter area than the others around. The building itself looked really nice inside and out, cool style.
Mahesh was brilliant, he took very good care of us, helped us with everything.
Restaurants with delicious food were nearby.
The location for sure and also how they’ve taken efforts to be as sustainable as possible. Great for a quiet weekend away.
Food can be ordered from restaurants near by.
Vishnu and Lalu were extremely kind and always hosting everyone with a smile on their faces.
the location is incredible. I stepped out on that balcony and felt myself immediately relax. The staff is so friendly and so eager to provide every comfort. and the cleanest bathroom I have encountered in India- much better than some fancy hotels I’ve stayed at!
