Scenic Location. Tourist spots are ill equipped with conveniences like rest rooms or toilets. Noisy and clogged roads. virtually no Public Toilet Facilities anywhere and the few available smell terrible and are infrequently maintained. People spitting all the time and everywhere. Lots of very expensive Luxury Hotels. Lonavla is a great place for a short break from Mumbai city. Its crowded and tends to be noisy. But... there are villas and resorts tucked away in nice corners that do afford peace and tranquil. the road to lonavla...is less than desireable...neither is the exit route. if you do manage to get there,, the rest is usually a decent fare

We went from Monday onwards so as to avoid the weekend crazy rush ....We stayed close to the railway station so that all the attractions were easily accessible... but then the place is equally crowded like any city ... if one stays little away from the centre of lonavala , then less crowd will be there. For eating delights, Hotel Chandralok for Thali, Golden vadapao (avoid chillies chutney), Cooper's fudge, Hotel Annapoorna can be tried surely...buy some chikki which is a local attraction...

Been to Lonavala several times.
Been to Lonavala several times. Location is great with some wonderful places to visit. However, the traffic is absolutely unmanaged. Avoid this destination on weekends as you would get stuck in traffic and won't be able to enjoy much. The number of traffic police are quite less compared to the flow of traffic from the main highway that passes across the city. This results in regular traffic jams on holidays and weekends.
