I might have stayed another night or two. We didn't have a chance to explore very far, and I had enough shopping. Our hotel had room service for food which was wonderful.
We ate at a rooftop fish restaurant and it was very bland. I was hoping for spicy food! Breakfast at Joes Cafe was good. It seemed to be the hot spot for Westerners.

It’s better to do the monuments early in the morning and hire a guide who will ride with you to take you to all the monuments as it’s too hot in June. It will take around 3 hours or more.
If you have nice zoo in your city for crocodiles and alligators then avoid the crocodile park as it doesn’t have anything special. Rest there’s nothing else to do in Mahabalipuram. Food in restaurants like A2b n all depends upon how clean you would like your food to be, I found the restaurant extremely crowded and unhygienic.

Very easy to walk about to all the major sights.
Very easy to walk about to all the major sights. No need for rickshaws unless you find walking arduous. They are available.
Some of the Kashmiri and Ladakhi shop owners really pushy. Most good humoured and we all know it’s a haggling game and people need to make a living. At the end of the day ask yourself how much you really want something and when you’ll be back. Most of these chaps send money home to families and travellers money main source of income
Go to Akka Creations on 39-48 Othavadai Street. The most amazing textile creations and fixed prices as manufactured by group of 100 or so women just out of Mahabs. I bought lots there including a beautiful elephant cushion cover for 500 rupees. Everything really well made.
Must place for authentic and tasty food is Mamalla Bhavan near bus station. A local institution that will not disappoint and cheap.

The property is based in an excellent location and a very good access to the beach. From the life guard in the beach to the front desk and especially the restaurant people where excellent. Rajneesh and his team and the chef gave has excellent choice of food and personally took care of everyone. The breakfast had a good spread and so was dinner. The beach access had a pvt one for the hotel and was well maintained. The Gym was good and the surrounding was well maintained. Overall a very good experience.
Hotel Mahabs is a wonderful restaurant located in the heart of Mahabalipuram but away from the noise. it is within a stone's throw distance from the beach as well as all monuments. The staff are really welcoming and hospitable. The hotel has some really nice rooms, a swimming pool, and a restaurant. Massages are available on order as well. I would love to stay at this hotel the next time I am back in Mammalapuram.
Homely place. The place has a private beach. Very clean, friendly staff and the owner is a gem of a person. Morning and evening, they clean the courtyard and external areas, they have their own restaurant looking into the beach and the beach is just a stones throw away from the hotel.
We had made the booking through the net. Never once did they ask us to reconfirm or pay in advance.
The location was very near to the sea beach. The gesture of the owner was good. Got the room as per my liking and rooms were big in size with ample seating and storage. Restaurant was below the hotel. The cook prepared food as per the liking. Parking was available too at the hotel.
When visiting Mahabalipuram, consider staying here. It is close to the beach and has spotless rooms and hygienic restrooms. Suresh assisted me throughout my entire stay and made the check-in and check-out process go smoothly. Ideal for those seeking a location near the beach.
The property was neat and clean. The owner is very helpful. He helped us to reach this place from Chennai and also guided us on our travel to Pondicherry. I would recommend to stay at this place when you visit Mahabalipuram. All the other places are very near from this place.
Very clean great aircon.
Very near beach and restaurant's
Extremely helpful staff.
Our taxi did not come and night porter let us into a room at 5am in morning.
Only charged 500rupees very kind as we were exhausted from travelling
This hotel is in quiet place, the location is close to restaurants and cafes, the commun ares are very cosy and beautiful with the plants. The staff is friendly and helpful. And is not so far from the beach too.
To check the rooms. Not worth the money staying in concrete building in the main block. Total disappointment. Hotels at half the price are much better. It’s a hotel for conference and not for families.
Great cafe below the hotel! The staff were also great about letting my bag stay for a few hours before check in time. Comfortable rooms, quiet at night, best option in the town. Highly recommend!
Room corresponds to the description. Hotel is near the beach, large, clean, shower with hot water inside toilets. Pleasant small balcony and the owner can book taxi or rickshaw for you.
Great location. If you are interested in city center sight seeing, this hotel is for you. Everything is walkable distance. They have two nice beaches close to this property.
The hotel is a newly constructed one with good parking space. It gave very pleasent vibes. The hotel very well accommodated my preference of a king size room as I had a baby
The south Indian food in the breakfast buffet was good. The abla carte dinner was very good. The rooms were clean and spacious. The hotel had access to the beach.
