It is nice place to visit. Lot of scope for local government to improve roads, sanitation, easy flow of traffic etc. For tourist outside the country may face little problem in the absence english language used for road direction board etc. Very good handloom bedsheets and other cotten material superior quality available.

Nothing, if you're driving through then maint on bypass and skip the city. Unless you're planning a night stay here. Roads are congested and heavy traffic on ring road, but no jams just slow moving traffic.

Nothing much in Solapur besides a couple of pilgrimage spots nearby and also the textiles market for old times' sake. In my case I opted it only for a night halt midway from Hyderabad to Maharashtra, and that was the only reason I will ever stop here, most likely.

Took the Gadag Express from Mumbai at night 10 pm from Thane reached Solapur at 4.25 am + 1 day (10 minutes delay). The location of the hotel was perfect in that we visited the four places we wanted to visit - Swami Samarth Temple (Akkalkot), Ganagapur and Tuljabhavani temple (Tuljapur) on the same day and could easily make a trip to Pandharpur the next day with a leisurely afternoon taking the Gadag Express on return at 8.40 pm(15 minutes late) but reached Thane at 4.15 a.m.(On time) +3 day. Solapur is the perfect city to complete these destinations.

Solapur is a place where you should stay and plan your visit to Tuljapur, Pandharpur, Gangapur, Akkalkot, Vadval (Nagnath Temple) and Siddheshwar temple. I felt Rickshaw wala's and rented Cab providers are not genuine, they are very expensive and having nature of looting tourists so you better carry your own vehicle.
