The guesthouse gave a accurate description of the area so we knew what services were there and not there and could plan ahead. We loved walking around and the sights and hikes that were nearby. It was so easy to get to the Glacier Lagoon and Diamond Beach, and we could go back to see them at night too. The hosts had many recommendations for what to do and it definitely enhanced our trip!

Absolutely loved the variety of fresh, farm to table offerings, and homemade breads at breakfast. Dinner menu was extensive, meals were delicious. Enjoyed seeing the sea birds, and sheep in the pasture. Views of mountain and bay/ ocean were great. Very close to Glacier Bay and Diamond Beach. Peaceful. Staff were friendly. Highly recommend and will return when I come back to Iceland.

we had an early assembly for ice cave/glacier walk so the location was perfect (<15min drive). Nearby area to visit are Diamond Beach & Iceberg Lagoon but we missed that due to bad weather condition.

Wonderful place to stay!

We chose it because of the proximity to the glacier lagoon and diamond beach. What we didn’t know was that it was the perfect place for a super comfortable first night after flying and a long drive. The owners contacted us in the morning to ask if we’d like dinner, which we gratefully agreed to, as we’d not been to this area before and knew we would be tired after a long travel day. The dinner was delicious with great choices, and was beautifully spread red and served. The surrounding property was stunning - farmlands and majestic cliffs filled with seabirds. Our room was spacious with a very comfortable bed and new modern amenities. I will definitely return

Some great features in this part of Iceland, Diamond Beach was just incredible and like nothing else I have ever seen, just wish I had had the time to stay and take photos all day and night. The LAgoon upstream was also incredible, worth visiting after high tide and again as the time is coming in, the Icebergs move in a different way at both stages of the tides and it is worth seeing both.

its just great to see the icebergs at the lagoon floating out to the sea. If you have time, watch the whole cycle of the tide. Also don´t miss diamond beach. Especially in the morning when the sun rises you can take great pictures of the sparkling ice pieces lying on the black beach.
We stayed at Skyrhusid after a long day on the glacier and in ice caves. It was the perfect retreat to warm up and rest. The owner was exceptionally nice at check in and the guesthouse felt so much like a home. He recommended the restaurant around the corner in Hali and it was fantastic and warmed us to the core. They also recommended a tour with Glacier Adventure located next door and it was wonderful! Overall, a fantastic guesthouse! We slept to the sounds of rain on the roof, warm and rested for the rest of our Iceland adventures!
The staff was so nice and always ready to help. We didn’t arrive at breakfast at the right time but they allowed us to have the most amazing sandwiches. The location is very close to the glacier company Arctic Adventure so that was really nice and convidient. There is a great spot outside the rooms in the hotel where people can chill and talk and that was very inviting and nice. We got to talk with alot of people. There was unlimited coffee and tea which i LOVED. Beautiful rooms with beautiful views.
The location is good for joining tours from “Glacier Adventure” and you will get a discount from the Hostel. Moreover, you might see the Aurora light if you’re lucky enough. Furthermore, the WiFi network was strong. Also, you will meet different people around the world. If you forgot to buy some food before your arrival, 1. the hostel had a shelf in the shared kitchen which sells food; 2. there was a restaurant nearby. At last, feel free to enjoy the welcome cake and drinks.
The Hali Country Hotel is a family run country hotel ('surprise, surprise'), well located near the glacier lagoon 'Jökulsarlon' (approximately 10 min driving time).
Due to its country style and its location in the middle of nowhere it is a lovely place to be. The 'farm like' flair is enhanced by the animals (lambs, goats, birds) which live there too.
The family (/ staff) is really welcoming and warm-hearted!
Last but but not least: The breakfast was versatile and delicious.
Super nice location 10 minutes from Jokulsarlon glacial lagoon plus the immediate surroundings are great - mountain facing guesthouse, ocean behind. Two restaurants right there. There's a nice gravel lane that makes for a great stroll, very scenic. Had milk and juice for guest use and cake in evenings which was very nice. Room was bigger than I expected, would definitely stay there again although it was probably the most expensive place I stayed on trip
Beautiful location with easy access to the glacier lagoon and surrounding areas! The room was clean and the hot shower was much appreciated after a long day in the rain snd cold. We planned ahead and brought sandwiches because there isn’t much in the way of food in the area and that worked out well with the mini fridge to store food over might. We were sorry we couldn’t stay longer, but will come back the next time we’re in Iceland.
Beautiful cottage. Very well equipped. Comfortable beds. Very clean bathrooms. We saw the aurora from the verandah around the cottage. Sea and mountain view. Walk to the sea beach 5 mins. Walk to the restaurant 2 mins. Apartments and rooms of the hotel are closer to the sea, but a little further away from the restaurant.
It was better than we expected. Pleasant owner, big eating area, very clean, great coffe, juice, milk, even traditional cake for free for all guests! You could find some food for breakfast for very small tips. Definitely recommended-we felt like in a cozy small hotel. They even had meniu from local restaurants nearby
Simple room with twin beds was great for short stay. Beds were comfortable. Bathroom down the hall was clean and convenient. Great kitchen with espresso machine. Short walk to nearby guesthouse for nice dinner. Conveniently close to Glacier Adventure for ice cave tours and various other activities.
Nice clean comfortable room. Good shared kitchen facilities. Appreciate the milk that was provided for our morning cereal Nice restaurant was a 2 min walk from the hostel. Beds were comfortable. Good location less than a 15 min drive to Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon
As per the hotel naming, it's one of the good spot to recommend if you're travelling to Iceland to chase after aurora.
Thanks for the staffs on duty, their warmest and hospitality in service for prompt us for her dancing shows which is right in behind the lodge.
Hali Country Hotel is an amazing place, with super friendly staff, clean cozy and comfortable rooms and absolutely amazing kitchen. We have tried local lamb for dinner and it was super tasty. I would definitely recommend this to everyone passing by. :)
I loved the view out the window, bed was comfortable, host was friendly and available when we rang for him. Very close to the glacier lagoon and almost half the price we paid for the night before in another place.
The location had beautiful water front scenery and surrounded by mountains. The included breakfast was delicious. The bed was very comfortable. Less than a 15 min drive from Glacier Lagoon and Diamond Beach.
Very friendly staff, they were always very nice with our toddler. They have a cool kids area at the restaurant and a free museum that is quite good and interesting. Spacious room, all good.
Wonderful staff- friendly and accommodating. Everything was very clean and the rooms were spacious. Neat little hotel with restaurant and museum, nice breakfast spread.
Good restaurant on premises, the information on local author who lived in this area, the proximity to Glacier Lagoon and Diamond Beach. Beautiful setting.
