High quality apartment, beds great etc.
High quality apartment, beds great etc. Problem was getting there was a hassel of the off road time with very difficult roads. Too expensive given that. And it was a construction site, per the picture out of our window.

There was a lot of noise.
There was a lot of noise. We weren't on the main building and when people walked in the hallway you got a lot of noises. Also the fan in the toilet turned on every time you turned on the lights and it stayed on for 15 minutes after.

We stayed in Kirkjubaerjarklaustur and made day trips to the glacier and to black beach. If you have a car, it is a great place. The scenery is beautiful and it is a good location to explore the south eastern part of the island. It is a bit of a drive for groceries and I suggest you buy them in Reykjavik or at a larger town on the way to the south.

Cute small town with a pretty waterfall at the top of the hill. A couple of restaurants and a small market were easily available. The hotel we stayed at was outside of the town itself but was an easy drive away. The town was also close to many beautiful sights, including Vatnajokull National Park and Diamond Beach.

Great location, especially if you are in Iceland only for couple of days, this would be one of the best choices. From this location, you can make several amazing trips to the surrounding locations. The most interesting places offered by southern Iceland are reacheble from this area as a "base camp".

We stayed one night at Hunkubakkar, it is a lovely place, very well located for a one night stop along the ring road. Our room had space enough for two people, and toilet sharing was fine as it was all very clean.
Special mention to the people working here, very charming and welcoming. We mentioned that we were on our Honey Moon trip in Iceland, and we had a little surpise during the dinner (by the way, lamb was superb!). Nice detail and great example of customer focus.
The most amazing stay we had during our trip to Iceland. In a great distant location within nature, where each apartment resides on its own. You can enjoy a spacious, clean, modern room with all the amenities you might want, and a stunning view. Moreover, the restaurant serves great delicious dishes and wine. If you are lucky, you might enjoy aurora as well did.
We love that the apartments were 7km away from Main Road 1. You enter a vast lava rock field you can feel the loneliness of Iceland and realize you really are in the Polar Artic Circle!! The road to the apartments is in good condition nothing to worry about. The apartment itself was great we found everything we needed to cook and sleep comfortable
Like how secluded and special the place is. The fact that it is close to a nameless waterfall. The lava maze that leads up to the waterfall. We have our own cabin, although the space is a bit tight with limited room to move about, the place is comfortable. The host was exceptionally friendly and shared a lot about the space, and about Iceland.
We checked in quickly and easily. Our room was basic but had all we needed.
The bathroom facilities were shared but very clean and well-maintained
Pleasant outlook onto the Icelandic countryside
Huge common area downstairs with plenty of kitchen facilities and space to move
Overall an excellent establishment and great value for money
Cute little cabins ( if not too little to be comfortable) in beautiful wooded setting which is a rare find in Iceland.
Glad we found it on the deserted stretch of Rig Road where chain hotels prevail. In the evening walking among trees and hearing gentle sheep's bleating was nice.
We had an amazing time at Hotel Klaustur. Here the guest is king and we felt very welcome. The breakfast offers a variety of delicious bread, rolls, fresh fruits, skyr, etc. - so good to start with for a new experience in Iceland.
Many thanks to the staff of Hotel Klaustur.
Great room with fantastic view of the sunrise and distant icecap. The dinner and breakfast buffets were delicious and well prepared. Room was clean, comfortable and quiet. The Hotel is well located to ready access to many of the southern Iceland attractions.
Great modern, clean and spacious rooms. The beds are comfortable. The staff is very friendly. The breakfast is great with lots of options. The restaurant is also great for dinner. The hotel is conveniently located for exploring south Iceland.
Great location., nice staff and very clean. As for all other accommodations on Iceland- at least when booked a bit late, the place was rather expensive compared to what you got. However, the guesthouse is great, and breakfast fine etc.
The restaurant is great for dinner and breakfast was also pretty good. There is a cool, not very known waterfall very closeby. It’s far enough from the lights so we got to see the Northern lights from the field behind the hotel!
Very quiet and peaceful place, lot of room for the big company. Well equipped kitchen with tea and coffee supplies, washing machine and dryer, hot water doesn't smell of sulfur, what is rare in Iceland.
After spending servers days in Reykjavik, it was so lovely to visit the Magma Hotel. Great home base for Southern Iceland. Very cozy and modern, restaurant for dinner was very, very good.
Great holiday home. Very comfortable for 6 people. Nice and quiet. Super hosts close by. Nice hot tub. Everything was great. This was one of our favourite stays in Iceland!
Great location for visiting the southeast side of Iceland
Nice river view from the patio
Common area was nice for our group
Good sized rooms for each couple
Cute property with GREAT unexpected hiking trails directly behind the property. Forests as the background which was unlike most of the parts of Iceland we saw!
